Daiso Charcoal Masque

The last time I went down to KL, I headed over to Daiso at the Curve and bought a couple of stuffs home happily. I mistaken the Daiso Charcoal Cleanser that JeanJean raved about as the Charcoal Masque and bought the Masque instead.

The Charcoal masque and cleaner is almost identical, only the size and some other minor difference

Reaching home, I hurriedly went to check what JeanJean bought and to my horror found my mistake. JeanJean hated the masque and I was really worried. I told myself that perhaps the mask didn't suit Jean and it might not be too bad just to consol myself. The other internet reviewers rave about how well the masque is so what better thing to do but to try and judge it myself.

Gross, gross and more gross.
Left to right: While wet, what it looks like after it dries

Being the smarty pants that I am, I 'smartly' applied the masque to my entire face. I can't help it, I don't read Japanese and those words are as good as scribbles to me! It apparently is 'supposely' good to pull out whiteheads or something and usually applied to the nose and chin area. I just had to be smarter. Sheesh.

It takes a bloody long time to dry and there's 'holes' as you can see above forming, it you don't apply thickly. The tearing off part hurts. It's a good thing that I'm really used to all this peeling/tearing abuse or I would have scream till Kingdom come.

The result:
Nil, Nothing. My skin didn't look any different from before I put it on, little to no black/white heads got pulled out. It aggitated my skin and made it even redder. The only thought I had was that I had totally wasted my time putting this thing on.

My review is in no way biased or influenced by what JeanJean said. It's because I really saw no improvement of any sort after trying it out a total of three times. I applied thicker the seconds time on and still it failed to be as good or half as good as my The Face Shop's white mud nose pack which really does wonders.

Although this only cost RM5. My opinion would be, save yourself the extra RM5 and go treat yourself and a friend to McD's chocolate sundae.

I've heard about charcoal masks/cleaners! They don't sell it here though. I love to try out new masks and cleaners/toners/pore refiners and so on! Now I use Best Bath store's dead sea mask and scrub and the acne facial bar. I think they are very good! The only thing I don't like is when I use the mask and it dries up you see your pores....I always think that my nose looks like a strawberry, but not in a good way! IEW! Have to say, it gets less each time I use it, but still not a pleasant sight! I always try to run away when I look in the mirror...the horror

Oh now I want a sundae from McD's!!

I was looking for a review of this mask and i happen to stumble on your blog. Now im skeptical in purchasing this one even if it works for a lot of people. Btw i bought daiso charcoal soap and right after using it i started having little red spots and i started having whiteheads breakout! It was awful... you're right I better buy myself a mcdo sundae!
