MAC Rose Romance + Pinky doodle doo

This past week has been bloody hectic. I've been staying back in the office and I come home only to literally drop dead on the bed. My body ache all over and I'm starting to get panda eyes. It was also in the office when E, K and I were discussing our skin condition and I realized that being fair, I'm the most prone to get pigmentation. E agreed and asked me to take care. Inside my little head, I panicked a little and as soon as I got home, I was looking through all my mask for some thing that could lighten my already existing pigmentation.

I saw some potatoes hanging in the kitchen. That solves everything! Sliced the potatoes and had my very own, 100% natural potato mask. Before you start thinking that I've gone koo-koo and wasting potatoes, I must tell you that I'm not koo-koo just a bloody damned cheapskate.

Ta-daaaa, muh won-tau-ful potatoes, sliced and ready to be used!

I'm pretty sure that some of you have probably used this before but for those who don't, let me explain, potatoes are good source of vitamin C, B6, potassium, and traces of thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, phoshorus, zinc, folate, magnesium and iron. They also contain phytonutrients that has anti-oxidents properties.

Crushes pulp mixed with honey is said to be good for curing pimples and spots on the skin and can even be applied to burns. Potatoes also help reduce dark circles and works well to brighten the skin. So that's one reason I've been applying them on the face and rubbing them all over my face. Since I've only used it for 2 days, I can't say for sure that it's super good or anything, as everything natural, it takes a week or so to really show any results. I do believe that the results will be rewarding, not to mention, I'm just sick of using my usual mask...

Moving on, I saw someone selling MAC Cash Flow from the Fafi Collection online and got it! I'm not sure why, since I don't really take gold colour all that well (I'm kinda yellow >.>) but since it was cheap and I've always been curious about it since I first laid eyes on it, I bought it and ta-daa, here it is.

Oh yea, although Cash Flow looks really scary to me in the bottle, when applied, it doesn't look all that scary. The colour sinks in and after a while it's actually quite subtle. To me anyway..

MAC Cash Flow

Left to right: MAC Bare study vs Cash Flow

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Can you even see any shit?

Products used:
  • MAC Cream Colour Base in Luna (primer)
  • MAC Vanilla (inner corner + brow bone)
  • MAC Cash Flow (entire lid)
  • Bobbi Brown Espresso (outter corner lid)
  • MAC Blackground (as liner since BB's gel eye liner was a bit of a hassle to wash off later - lazy)

Yes, I look like a mess. Everything is bare except my eyes, I even have a mask on the lower part of my face while doing this look! It was a major pain in the behind to take this picture since the colour was so difficult to capture. It comes out looking washed out till I had to catch it with flash. And the flash made me look kinda tanned, o.O;

I now sit here and wonder how the rest of those make up bloggers does it. How do they capture such beautiful pictures seemingly so effortlessly. Is it my lighting or the camera? Both? What kind of lighting should I use? I know the best is always natural lighting but the only time I'm free to do this is during night time.

I don't particullary know how to handle my eyes even after 10 years of playing around with my eyes. Yes, I started make up when I was 15 years old and have never looked back. Of course back then, I had to learn bit by bit since there was no such thing as searching YouTube and there was hardly any good make up books and even if there was, there was hardly any good products. Watsons mostly only carried Revlon, Loreal, Maybelline and Wet n Wild.

Everything was learnt through trial and error. Painstakingly slow and took us so much time to even learn about ingredients.

Anyway, E gave me a call while I was happily drooling on my bed and told me she wanted to check out MAC Rose Romance Collection. My eyes opened wide. For one thing, E is not a MAC fan so it came as a surprise. Two, I've been wanting to check it out for a good two weeks and kept forgetting to. So drove out, picked her and happily went 'kai-kai'.

Rock hard and it's actually turns up on my skin quite nicely, yay!

I ended up getting the beauty powder which I intend to use as a blusher I wanted, Blush of Youth instead of Summer Rose. On the official MAC website, Blush of Youth is described as clean pink with gold pearl and it turns out a nice shade of peachy pink and gave me a natural flushed look. I didn't bother with any swatches since the colour does not turn out on the hand but comes out beautifully when applied to our cheeks. We were initially a little worried that the colour was too sheer and doesn't turn up at all but we later learnt that the colour needs to be build up and when our cheeks heats up, the colour shows up more.

I tried Summer Rose, a soft violet pink with pearl, on the other cheek and I guess since the colour was quite sheer, it was almost identical to the Blush of Youth.

I'm really happy with my purchase. If you noticed, I usually only get one or at most two items from some collection that catches my eyes, although I do love MAC because it's cheaper compared to Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Chanel etc. I do not believe that I have to get everything from every collection. I'm not a make up artist and thus I don't need all the colours in the world, I just need them for myself.

Oh, Pinky Doodle Doo's bird err.. I mean birthday falls on Mother's Day every year, so we have somewhat of a double celebration. Usually we'll head out and eat in our usual Japanese restaurant that we have frequent for the past 10 years.

Pinky decided to get mom something this year and was debating whether to get her a pendant (as we do almost every year) or flowers. I chosed a pendant because unlike flowers they don't die but Pinky argued that every girl secretly love to recieve flowers. So we got her flowers instead. I don't usually recieve flowers so perhaps I didn't understand how big impacts were flowers to girls. Geeze, I' so numb.

I've always thought that the day I die would be the day I recieve lots of flowers. I've only recieved flowers twice I think, once from some guy and another during my graduation day.

For our dearest mummy
