Creepy historical places in Penang

Had potluck with Celeste and the some of the guys in Tat's place, when I heard that Padios knew lots of ghost stories, so to much of my happiness, Pad shared some with us that night. Now, if you think that Padios is probably a big bull-shitter, I shit you not when I tell you he isn't. He's pretty much a fun loving father as well as a serious guy when he needs to be but most of all, he's not a liar and these are from his first hand experience during his scouting days close to 15 over years ago.

Atleast now, I know some of the most haunted places in Penang that you should never ever go alone.

Some of the places have long closed down or sealed off but the stories lives on. They were creepy as well as fascinating with bits of history and mystery.

Places such as Coronation Camp near the Botanical Garden opposite the Moon Gate, apparently is one of the places mentioned. Along with Youth Park camp site, and one of the all-boys school in Penang where Hockster and Padios once studied in.

The All-Boys school was built as far back as late 19 century and was once the headquarters of the Japanese 'Secret Police' during the WW2. There's underground tunnels which still exist today much to my surprise, was so that the resistance could sneak in and eavesdrop on the secret police. But just as well, some of the 'specific' classrooms are highly avoided after school time as there has been sighting of either a Japanese girl in one of the classrooms to sightings of a Brother ( in a robe, slippers and the 'Wong Fei Hung' hair style) teaching in a full classroom.

For today, most of the places Padios mentioned had something in common; they were places that the Japanese executed the Chinese.

As far as I know, Coronation Camp has now been sealed off and that place rank pretty high in Padios Book of Creepiness. Hockster and Padios mentioned a numbered camp site that the scouts used to camp in that was the weirdest. In their words, it was like entering a different dimension where the atmosphere is 'deaden' and frequent sightings of severed limbs lying around in the corner of your eyes. It was also in that camp that Padios saw a friend get possessed and was doing some of the oddest things which made Padios never to overnight in that place ever again.

Definitely not not not a place I wanna visit or go to. I rather be called a coward and still have my sanity at the end of the day.

The other place mentioned above was the Youth Park, another infamous place that even E had weird encounters in. It's a pretty nice place for sports and recreation during the day but people usually try to avoid that place after the lights go down. On high up on one of the hills, was also an execution ground, where after the deed is done, they would flung the body down which happens to land very close to one of the campsites. I'm not going to mention which cause it might scare some people and the Penang Tourist people might come after me...

Camping in those areas goes without saying, the rule of Three, meaning, you need to be accompanied by atleast 3 people to toilets and such and the trick is to keep talking to make sure that your friends is fine. Usage of foul languages is prohibited as well as mentioning 'odd' happenings such as hearing someone playing the piano in the middle of the night in a jungle with no houses anywhere near it. No answering to anyone calling your name in the middle of the night as well as turning around when someone slaps you on your shoulders.

Then again, this is all something that most of us Asians kids would know. I mean, hell, my grandma reminded me enough times as a kid for it to get stuck in my head.

Afterall, my late Grandma has her fair share of 'odd' happenings staying in the restaurant. The restaurant is built over looking the sea and somewhat 'stuck' on a big massive rock. Imagine a house and a massive big rock and combine the two together. To the back is a forest that people frequently 'disappear' in and never to be found - not alive anyway. So growing up, I've heard so many stories that I grew to love them so much. So that's one reason I'm always looking for the best horror movies.

Question of the Day: Did you know that there is a Jewish Cemetry on Penang?

This post gives me the creeps!And I'm in the office reading and kept turning at the back. I actually know about the camp site thingy and I happen to go there a few times during the night back when I was still in high school due to camps. It does give me chill down my spine knowing that certain places we shouldn't go and such but also that the toilet overlooking the HQ for ladies, it's totally dark. Eh but seriously, I did't know about the rule of Three and also the prohibited stuff that you shouldn't do but then for the piano part, it's common sense? Oh I heard about the smell too that if you suddenly smell something different, just ignore it. My ex encountered somewhere at the 'end of the world' that someone was calling his name a few times but he knows that all of his friends were right in front of him so he said he pretended nothing happened and keep moving on. I think I shall stop, I'm scaring myself by thinking of it. Heh

Take care!

@Sam
Heyyy Sam, yea, it's opposite Boon Siew's house right? So far i heard it's haunted too but I haven't heard or anyone seeing anything there other than it being a fav spot for people jumping down from it >.<

@Khy
OMG, you went there? Actually *looks behind her* I heard it was camp site six that that had all the weird happenings. I'm glad they closed it down.

Talking about toilets, avoid the ones in youth park after dark *wink* I'll tell you more when i see you.

Lol, thinking about it, I'm kinda worried too as I'm someone who tends to answer before thinking if someone was to call my name. *sigh*
