Going to Japan...

Tomorrow anyway. I'm leaving for Kuala Lumpur in a few hours time and then heading to Japan on Sunday morning.

Feeling extremely nervous and excited since I'll be fulfilling two of my lifelong dreams

1) Seeing snow

2) Going to Japan

I live in Malaysia and in case you're not entirely too sure where it is, it's easier to explain that we are in between Singapore and Thailand. That's us right there - in the middle. :P

Unlike Sir Terrible Memory who studied in UK for 6 years, I have never really left home (except for holidays and we usually go in Spring or somewhere equally hot) not to mention the temperature these days in Penang is starting to hit over 39 Celsius and it's so hot its nauseating.

P.s: I know that most of my readers has been to other fantastic places (Machu Pichu, London, Korea etc) and some has even been sponsored to Japan twice but..but..for me, it's a new experience and I'm so happy!!

So what have Cat and Bear been doing? Cat's been busy planning for our trip to Japan! We've managed to scrounge up enough money to pay a snakehead to smuggle us aboard an Airasia plane to Osaka International Airport, and I've been busy with making reservations at pet hotels and planning the itinerary.

A lot of our friends and family are surprised when we say that we are flying to Japan, as the perception is that Japan is a very very expensive place. The purpose of this post is to breakdown our costs so other would-be travellers can get an idea on how to travel to Japan without selling a kidney.

Pink NOTD; Bear NOTD, Rabbit NOTD, FREE Contact lenses

The fireworks display is crazy this year. Either the price of fire crackers were on sale or everyone is a little too happy welcoming the Dragon into the year. None stop fire works for 30 minutes, that's a lot of money burnt.

Our house has a fantastic view of all the fire works from most angle so I ain't complaining much. Not too sure how many dogs died of a heart attack with all the noise from the fire works though.

Started work on the 3rd day of Chinese New Year and we had to wear pink coloured T-shirts as we were doing a roadshow in Gurney Plaza. Coincidentally, Elisa gave me her Lavshuca eye shadow in PK-1.

So I had pink eye shadows to play with for the New Year. Pink still remains one of my most hated colours though. For my eyes I mean. It just makes me look as if its swollen. I'll probably use it to fool my doctor next time I get lazy... kidding!

I used MAC Let's Skate as base then the lightest pink, medium pink and the crazy hot pink. A little bit of MAC Typographic and called it a day. Add falsies and I'm pretty much done.

I didn't want to be too over done in pink. I'm not trying to compete with Barney or Barbie.

Bear Bear's NOTD

Decided to have Bear painted nails for the New Year, It wasn't too hard but my hands were a little shaky from the lack of coffee *sigh*

Since someone requested for a nail tutorial the last time I did my Froggy NOTD, I decided to do a tutorial for my Bear NOTD.

Pictures should be self explanatory right? RIGHT? A circle here, a circle there, a dot here, a dot there and voila, you have got yourself a bear!

Tutorial: FAIL!

Anyway, I cheated, It's much easier to use acrylic paint to paint your nails that nail polish so I'm confident anyone can do this too.

I'm a little smarter than the average Joe so.. I did housework; cleaned my room etc and spoilt all my nails. I R teh smartz!

Citadel's *ahem* acrylic nail colours. You can get these from your boyfriend if they happen to play Warhammer. If they don't just head to Game Forge over at Prima Tanjung, Penang to get it and ask boy friend to pay for it. Kidding :D

Chaos Black
Bleached Bone
Blood Red
Snakebite Leather

Ugly rabbits. No tutorial for this one. Who wants ugly rabbits on their nails. Blah!

Oh, I'm giving away my old contact lenses for FREE to anyone. But there's just two catch. Haaaa~ one: my power is -10.00

I believe it's rare to even find anyone with power as high as mine considering the fact that this power is never sold out. Nyahahaha!

I was in a rush to do my iLasik and forgotten that I still had a total of 4 pairs of contact lenses left. I have two with me. One in gray and one in blue. I threw the rest away as the date of expiry was 2011.

Two: Prove to me that your prescription is the same as mine and these are as good as yours. I'll pay for postage too! Unfortunately, my red packets wasn't too good this year so free shipping within Malaysia only.

Although this lenses can be worn for a year, I suggest you throw them away after no more than 3 months. Chances of them finding a new home is a little slim considering my 'blindness'... *sigh*

Froggy NOTD; Promise Phan inspired look: Kate Middleton - FAILED!

Edited my post to make it less work ranty. Here's the NOTD that I did;

Since it's the 2nd time I did this, it took me a mere 10 minutes to complete everything. I had fun and looking at it makes me happy seeing 10 little froggies smiling back at me with their wonky dotted eyes. Heee~

Bought some contacts - again. This time it was from Blincon Sweetie range in Blue. I wanted something natural and not the Blue-enough-to-scare-grandparents-Blue. Not that I have any grandparents to scare.

It was very comfortable and did not feel drying so that a huge plus for me. It didn't give me the headache feeling that I get when I wore the contact lenses I brought from the night market.

I was told that 16mm lenses were not certified nor approved by our health department. I hope I am not misquoting or misinformed. It would seem the colours from 16mm seeps out after a while.

Promise Phan inspired: Kate Middleton

After watching Promise Phan on YouTube and the wonders of contouring, who wouldn't be tempted to try it out? Considering I got the typical flat face. Okay okay, I might not look like I ran into a wall but still it's not prominent in any way.

So I grab my concealer palette and got to work creating rail way tracks on the side on the nose.

Once the rail way track is completed, blend everything in with your fingers. If the shadows are still too damned obvious, use a little foundation to further blend everything. FYI, I applied the shadows on my cheeks a little too low.

No crease? Got eyeliner? Problem solved! Pffft, why spend RM2,000 in creating double eyelids. Promise Phan used black liquid eyeliner and I used brown instead. She has double eyelids to begin with, so it was merely enhancing it but for me it was more on the creating from scratch.

By this time, you can pretty much tell I look NOTHING like Kate Middleton. I just couldn't get the eyes right. Kate Middleton inspired? Gone with the wind. From here on, it's just a normal EOTD/FOTD.

Apply silver cream eye shadow on my lids on enhance my lids (below the brown eyeliner and below eyes) and then apply black eyeliner, apply false eye lashes. Apply a little brown eyeshadow below my eyes below the silver eye liner.

Apply peachy pinkish lipstick, some gloss, blusher and it's done. Oh don't forget to darken the eyebrows. I initially darken it quite a bit to make them look like Kate's.

Please don't bother telling me I look nothing like Kate. I'm really not that delusional.

NOTD, Origins GinZing, Green and Gold EOTD

Wow, what a shock to see all the lovely and super sweet comments on my last post. I don't usually get so many comments for posts without pictures. LOL. But thank you all very very much from the bottom of my heart!

Let me just start off with some NOTDs I did before and for Christmas 2011.

Been out of ideas for a while now. Decided to use my latest Konad stamp and just stamp some snowflakes on them and call it a day. Unfortunately since I didn't use the Konad nail polish; I used Elianto's white instead after painting the top coat on, the white became very light and can barely be seen. Oh well.

For Christmas, I was inspired by my colleague's nails and decided to imitate hers. She got hers done in a salon and el cheapo me can't pay RM150 for manicure so...

Stuck a snowflake sticker on it cause I can't draw snowflakes to save my life

I watched some YouTube video online and noticed how most of them seem to have dry and wrinkled eyelids. It was obviously because it was zoomed in but I must admit that it really scare me so off I go to look for an eye cream. After my last Olay Total Effect which was to be No Effect, I switched to Origins Ginzing.

Origins Ginzing states to visibly diminish dark circles, bags and puffiness around the eyes. Sounds superb to me. I've been using it for about 3 weeks and will let you know. According to Elisa, you don't know how well an eye cream works till you finish the bottle. *gulp* sounds like a bloody long time to me. Review will not be so soon. For as of now, no effect yet.

As I get older, I tend to stay home for most of the festive occasions. Mostly because I'm in no mood to jostle elbows with a sea of rowdy strangers and because of the traffic jam. The traffic in Penang has been horrendous with plenty of people from outstation all coming home for the festive seasons jamming every nook and corner.

Every eating outlet (good or bad) is totally packed with people queuing for food. There are absolutely no parking spaces anywhere. It's frustrating to even go out and get stuck behind stupid drivers who can't seem to make up their mind where they want to go. Penang is a small island, we don't have four lane roads, at best, we have two. So imagine. UGH!

Enough rant, here's what Pinky Doodle Doo got me for Christmas

Whee, a total of 9 tubes of Crabtree and Evelyn hand creams. I love them cause I can put them in my handbag and carry them everywhere. I tend to use hand creams after washing my hands so you can imagine how fast I can finish one.

MAC lipglosses. She knew I love MAC so she headed over, pondered between a red lipstick or these and got these instead. Thank you Pinky Doodle DOO! I Love Yoooo!

Blooming Tea. It's been on the market for some time now. You get some withered ball of something, add hot water and watch as the flower blooms in your tea pot. The flower didn't look anything amazing like a real flower but it tasted pretty darn good.

Lazy Ash's EOTD of the month

Gold and Green

Started - as usual with my office make up. Apply some eye shadow base, then applied Kryolan Satin Powder in Gold all over lids, then using MAC's eye shadow from Intriguing Scarlet: 6 Warm Eyes in Warm Heat on the middle lids.

Apply Grand Entrance on the out V and a little below the eyes. Add eyeliner and falsies and you're done, Yay!

To me, no matter how badly your eye make up looks, when you add on a nice pair of false eyelashes, everything automatically looks better. As long as the other person stands a few feet away of course :P

If you're wondering why I tend to take just half of my face, its probably because I only did one half; I screw up the other half or;

I need a really good eye cream for my right eye...
