Timeless Truth Mask - Collagen Bio Cellulose Mask

*Not advertorial, not sponsored.

Got to know the mask through a friend on Facebook. I went through the testimonials and reviews before deciding to give it a go. I'm glad I did.

I do not have flawless skin, not even something resembling good skin. I still have my battle scars of yesteryear and pigmentation. My skin is uneven with big pores and is patchy up close.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

I may not be the type to read instructions but I do read online FAQs so I knew what to expect when I first open the mask.

The packaging for the Collagen mask is the thickest and heaviest I have seen.

The collagen mask is sandwiched between two sheets of protective layers. I am not surprised, the collagen mask is very fragile and tears easily.

Had a staring competition with a turkey during Chinese New Year and lost the match. The turkey neck was disturbing. El cheapo me used the two protective sheets (which were soaked with the serum) to cover my neck area like a scarf.

I remember reading tips on how to put on the mask so thankfully I didn't tear the mask in half ala Phantom of the Opera style.

My stupid fake eyelashes were stiff enough to poke through the collagen mask much to my despair. If you are wondering why I didn't remove my falsies prior to all these, the falsies are bloody hell glued on and can't be removed for the next one month.

It is one of those days when my better sense of judgement goes on holiday.

The mask has a somewhat strong floral scent which quickly goes away.

My first impression for the texture of the mask was, "Oh Nata de Coco!" I must admit it made me crave for Nata de Coco a little.

I like the fact that the mask adheres to the skin nicely rather that the usual paper type that is halfway sliding off your face but still half clinging to your face for dear life.

The serum leftover was amazing, I pour two palms full to wet my mask periodically and there was more left.
In the end I found out it was good for 4 palms full. Nicee!

Oh why oh why can't I look half as glamorous as the other girls do with mask on? I look like some weird freak with 'poh piah' skin on my face.

*The Vietnamese poh piah (which is both chewy and transparent) and not our Gurney poh piah skin.

I was not sure if I wanted to post this horrible pictures up but then I remember this was a blog originally created to remind myself and most importantly laugh at myself. So go ahead :D

After the mask, I found my skin brighter, clearer and hydrated but the amazing part is my pores were smaller.. it must be my imagination!

 EDIT:

Pictures taken after 4 days
Taken early in the morning, bare face (Excuse the crazy eyelashes)

It has been four days since the collagen mask and my skin is still as moisturised. Am I surprised? You bet I am! No mask's effect have ever lasted this long before. My pores are still looking smaller and my skin tone less patchy. I am a convert, I am a believer! No more masks for me if it is not Timeless truth's.

Day 2 - With make up on (just powder and blusher NO concealer)
Realized how pale I looked and hurriedly applied some lip balm

Day 3- With make up on
(just powder and blusher NO concealer)

*I looked at my skin under the natural sunlight

You might argue that it is because of the different cameras used that messed up the pictures. I don't think so, lighting perhaps since the lighting in my room is not good but it doesn't change the results of the skin.

P.s: I am not paid to say all that. Wish I was but I am not. Everything I have written above is my personal and honest opinion.

P.p.s: Unfortunately, the above pictures we both taken by a Sony camera and a Samsung handphone camera.

MORE TIMELESS TRUTH'S MASK REVIEW TO COME...

Finger Infection; Maybelline's Baby Lips

I apologise for the lack of post, it has not been a good 2 weeks for me. Out of no where an entire army of pimples came barging in and decided to stay with me for a good long vacation and refuses to go away.

Also, there was a lack of NOTD because me being a smarty pants tore my cuticles and left an open wound on my finger which then got infected. Nothing you guys wanna see. It hurt for a good 2 weeks before it turned purple and swell like a sausage. Out of desperation, I messed with it till the green pus came exploding out. Ugh right? Now, imagine my reaction?

On my last trip to Singapore, I saw Maybelline's Baby Lips at Watsons but being stingy, I decided to come back to Penang to get it hoping it'll be cheaper. I ended up waiting for a good 3 months before it arrived selling at the same price as Singapore after the exchange rate conversion. FML!

I wasn't sure if the lip balm was tinted or not so to remain safe, I got one named soothing cherry. Upon opening it, it turned out to be colourless (D'oh). UGHHH NOOOO. I no like cherry! Anyway the lip balm promises 8 hour moisture and rejuvenate lips in ONE week. I'm going to put this for the test.

Ever since I started my new job, I've been applying the Lip Smackers' Cotton Candy lip gloss I won from Bunny's Giveaway a while back every day religiously. My lips are in pretty good condition now so let's see how Maybelline does.

Another thing I got from Watsons was the Rose Fairy hydrating facial toner and lotion. Not sure how good it works or will works but knowing that it's a in house brand, it'll probably be mediocre. I'm not biased but I've tried a couple of in house stuffs from Watsons and they range from really bad to bad to average.

The only reason I bought them was because I really liked the bottles. They reminded me of the little traveling size bottles from Anna Sui. At 50% off I decided that I could just throw away the content and just use the bottles. Then again, the rose smells really good. The toner reminds me of rose water. Hmmm~

EDIT: The toner smells funky when you pour it out on your hands. Pour is a good word to describe it since there's no stopper. The lotion is really oily. Me no likey...

Rose Rose I love you~; NOTD; NYX Lipsticks

Rose, Rose I love you with an aching heart.
What is your future, now we have to part?
Standing on the jetty as the steamer moves away,
Flower of Malaya, I cannot stay.

-Rose Rose I Love you, Frankie Laine, 1940

I'm starting to gather that perhaps I might have a little problem with Roses.

This is only a small part of my rose collection

I love them a little too much. Only the scent though. It's weird considering I'm not much of a fan of the actual Rose. I prefer lilies; Casablanca and Calla lily are a favourite but I can't stand their smell.

Haul of the day

It's not even lunch time and I have exhausted my wallet. Queen E (Elisa) managed to get some Raspberry mask from The Face Shop for only RM60 instead of the usual RM99. So yay! All hail, QE!

Bought the much needed white nail polish from Elianto again since my old one is drying up along with L'Occitane solid Rose perfume *cough*. Talk about impulse buy along with other unmentionables.

Also, the lipstick from NYX that I wanted so badly finally came; Orange Soda and Strawberry Milk. The swatches from online showed Orange Soda to be a beautiful light orangey-peach. And it is.

I love this seller, the package came in less than 2 days after paying for it. For ONCE, a seller that is prompt. I don't haggle, I don't demand a lot, I just want my packages to come on time for God's sakes!

Then again, just knowing my luck...

I have paid for broken lipsticks thanks to our wonderful postal service. The package came resembling something people have stepped on.

The lipsticks broke and so did my heart. I waited over a month for them!

I knew I couldn't trust Samy Vellu when he loudly promised Pos Laju's (translation: Fast Post) slogan to be "Send tomorrow, arrive today". Yes he actually said that, but what I think he meant was send today, arrive tomorrow. Then again, fast in one thing, arriving in one piece is another.

Well, the colour turned out weird on me anyway so..

I was expecting Strawberry Milk to be funky on me, I didn't fit the MAC Saint Germaine or whatever so I was expecting it but I had a lot of hope on Orange Soda. In the end, Orange Soda looked weirder on me that Strawberry Milk. I'm gonna go hide under my blanket now, thank you very much.

On a happier note, I finally bought some Konad stamp plates after debating with myself for over 3 months.

NOTD - Uhh.. Swirly Cherry Blossoms or something

Sorry, I didn't clean the side of my nails yet.

Tia Amelia

'Rub a dub dub,
Thanks for the grub'
- Shen

Phew, I'm full. Mom's Vietnamese styled prawns are delishious! And she's not even Vietnamese :P Hope everyone had a good Reunion dinner.

Before the Hong Kong post, I decided to upload some pictures I've been meaning to post up. One of them being about a Made in Malaysia 'almost miracle cream' everyone's raving about. Everyone meaning the cafeteria ladies at work. After searching high and low, I finally found a seller online and happily bought it.

It took the lady ONE week to post it to me. I have absolutely no idea why I even bother to pay for express post when registered post would have been faster. Her excuse, I didn't state which product I wanted despite that it was stated clearly in my order mail.

Nevermind. So anyway, the cream promises fairer skin without peeling, lightening pigmentation, healing pimples and the sorts. Sounds too good to be true for a mere RM24.50(5ml)? You bet it is. For me anyway.

I tested this out for a good 2 weeks before deciding to call it quits. It smells a little funky in the sense that it smells like some cream you get from the hospital. Not necessarily in a good way. Smells.. plasticky?

Plasticky or not, after 2 week, this is the end result;

Bewarned!

I don't have fantastic looking skin, never did. When I was 12 years old, you probably can't find a spot in my face that doesn't have a pimple. LMAO! That's one reason, a pimple or two doesn't bother me.

Being 26 years old, my pimples have come under control and it's not a problem now but after using Tia Amelia, tiny pimples grew by the busload. It was like a rave party! It doesn't have a head for me to squeeze anything out and it was a little painful.

Despite that I was hoping my skin would adjust to it and continued on, it doesn't seem to be doing anything for me - I quited. My pigmentation never lightened anyway.

Before all the haters out there do the happy dance, know that my skin is back to normal. I know what works for me skin and to get it back under control, I use back what I was previously using.

Oh, the old Daiso Charcoal mask I bought a year or so ago broke, if you're wondering how...

Never knew it could do that, not that I mind since the mask did no shitz. It was just a black coloured mask that couldn't dry and pulling it off could make you pee in your pants type.

After effect was having a red face from all the peeling. Nothing else.

It is just RM5 though. Hee....

...

......

God dammit, I wouldn't have even paid RM2 for it!!

Oh Acne!

It's been a while and how is everyone? *waves*

I'm not sure what spur me on to write about acne of all things but it seems that there are alot of people still battling it and I thought that maybe I could share my own experience on how to deal with them.

I'm not entirely sure if my acne is now all gone because age has finally caught up to me or what. There are 101 solutions out there and a million more promising acne cure. So what works? Then again, what works for me, doesn't always have to work for you. I've spent a hefty amount of money on acne creams and facials since God remembers when and it annoys me having to spend so much on something promising and then it doesn't work and you go back to square one.

I've always be surrounded by friends who had good skin, Elisa, Kern, Pinky Doodle Doo, Elyn, blah blah and bla so it really stresses me when I have a face full of pimples and they don't. Worst you can't exactly turn to them for help. They just don't know how to help or answer you.

After a while, my piggy bank got fried, turned bacon and I decided to spend my remaining money on cheap but effective solutions rather than be sold on effective advertising. Pretty models with clear skin can no longer tempt me. I want results and not false promises!

A few tips and advise will cost you nothing and I try to recommend the 'cheaper' products that works. Not in any order.

So lets see, what works for me;

1) Acne Aid
It's a soap that a dermatologist recommended my colleague and she recommended us. I think I did a post on it a while back, It's easily available and cost less than RM15 for a whole bar that can last you a looooong time. Cut into smaller bars so you don't contaminate the entire bar.

2) Stop being so easily tempted by everything that promises you clear, white skin.
Stick to your regular regime, I know that girls tends to start 'wandering' once their skin heals a little and start applying all sorts of things on their face thinking it's going to further help them. Nay. Stop that! Stick to the usual and it'll help your wallet too.

3) Avoid whitening stuffs.
Acne + whitening stuff don't go along. Whitening stuff have an ingredient that irritates acne prone skin. Use whitening stuff long after your acne is gone to get rid of the scars.

4) Drink lot of water.
Sheesh, same old same old. This advise is so boring. That's what I used to think but when I had my wisdom tooth extraction, I drank nothing but plain water and my skin was fantastic!

5) Sleep early.
You can't replace lost sleep. That's what JH told me. I never knew that. Sleep really is important, I would know cause about 4 years ago, I worked in KL and I ate nasi kandar and other unhealthy food every single day for 2 months and still I had good skin, it was because I slept at 9pm every single day.

*I had nothing to do, no tv, no internet, no computer. no lights, no fan so I was "forced" to sleep early :P

6) Change pillow cases often!
Till today, I sleep on a towel. It's weird but I place a clean piece of either towel/face towel before I go to sleep. Imagine going out in the dusty road, coming home and "rolling" on your pillow, rubbing your face all over your pillow. The dust/ pollution from the hair would have transferred to your face and pillow case. And then repeat. Imagine how dirty your pillow case is in like what, a week?

7) Wash hair often

8) Don't use too much hair products;
Gels, sprays, waxs might stick to your face and and guess who pops up to parteeeeee. Oh le le, oh la la~

9) Switch to BB cream instead of foundation
Use concealers only on special occasions

10) Eat healthy
Eat veggies, and make them raw or lightly cooked.

11) Put on facial mask daily.. or almost daily
Clay mask and hydration mask, nothing fancy-smeancy please.

12) Stop touching your face!

One of my hardest habits to break, I got itchy hands that whenever it's free, goes straight to my face.

13) Keep hair off your face
Pin it up, tie it up, buy pretty accessories to just keep the hair off the face.

14) Go for a swim in the sea

This might be a myth and I have no way of proving this but long time ago, I used to have acne on my back and I realize that everytime I went for a swim in the beach, it got better and better. I no longer have this problem :D

Other skin products that might help is dermadex or if all fails, start taking birth control pills like Diane35. I'm not promoting pre-martial sex but birth control pills helps to stabilize hormones thus reducing flare ups. Word of caution. Make sure to see an OBGYN to make sure the Pills fits you or you'll either put on weight, go mental and cry at everything or just feel sick.

It all above doesn't work, don't sue me.

Naruko review part II

It’s been over 2 weeks since I first started using the Naruko skincare. Out of the 10 items, I didn’t use the mousse facial cleaner, morning toner and moisturiser. I skipped those because I’m still trying to finish up my Hada Labo moisturizing toner and my Olay morning moisturiser.

So for the morning, it’s still my usual stuffs but for my night regime, it’s Naruko’s mousse facial cleanser, ZA oil cleanser (if I’m not dead tired) Naruko facewash, followed by the night toner, night moisturiser (if I’m still not dead tired) and then either the Rose or Lavender sleeping mask.

How am I liking it?

I’m not liking it, I’m loving it! I thought I was dreaming but I realized that my pores shrunk and my face is much more hydrated than it has been in a long time. I noted my pores but was wondering if it could be because of other factors but when my colleagues commented on how her pores shrunk, I knew why. Of course nothing is perfect, there was somethings we didn’t like as well.

Things we dislike about the BB creams besides it being extremely sheer is the NO SPF part other than that is A-okay. The sleeping mask also tends to be very sticky. If you slap it on and go to bed, and if you’re like me who lay a towel on my pillow, you’ll wake up with your face and the towel stuck together. Nyahaha!

My colleague mentioned then I should pat my face like what I do for my Hada Labo toner. Pat it like no tomorrow and it shouldn’t be that sticky. Found out that, yea that works too. I’m definitely going to continue on with the products whether it makes my towel stick to my face or not cause I’m seeing results with it.

Since we ordered straight from their website, it cost us a lot less despite shipping being like RM60 each. We calculated that even with the extra RM60, it was cheaper than what others were selling. Only problem is the shipping (EMS) has decided to raise their price according to my colleague to about RM90 per person now. We decided that we’ll just get whoever who’s going to Taiwan to get it for us the next time.

I can’t say much for the whitening part as I usually take no notice of how ‘brighter’ my skin is. I only take notice when it’s not. Not to mention, Elisa has told me that she has yet to see me with dull skin.

Apologies for the lack of photos, will post them up later.

Naruko skincare + NOTD

Hee. I'm a little happy that I have a skincare crazed colleague in my office *ahem* who reads Chinese cause we both managed to buy the latest skincare range from Niu Er. If you're wondering who this Niu Er guy is, unfortunately, I can't really tell you a whole bunch as well. All I do know is that it's created by a very famous Taiwan make up artist (?) His other range include the Beauty DIY. There's not a person left in Taiwan who doesn't know him and he's some really famous guy. *Ahem* but I'm not for Taiwan. I'm a banana ( Yellow on the outside, white on the inside; in other words, a Chinese who cannot read/ speak Chinese) who don't usually buy skincare online. Pardon my ignorance.

* I finally learn how to write my own Chinese name!! At the age of 26! All Chinese would have been ashamed for me but to me, better late than never. Now where's the paper? Uhh..

So anyway, my colleague came up to me and asked if I was interested. Saw the packaging and the price and was hopping around nodding my head (literally) My first thought when I saw the name Narcissus was vanity, what an odd name then it stuck me that Narcissus is a flower. Remember the Greek guy that fell in love with his own reflection?

Googled pictures

The Narcissus flower is perceived quite differently in the east than in the west. Whereas in the west, the Narcissus flower is seen as a symbol of vanity, in China, the same flower is seen as a symbol of wealth and good fortune. The ancient Greeks believed this plant originated from the vain youth, Narcissus. He died after becoming so obsessed with his reflection in a pool he could not leave. The Greeks say that the gods turned his remains into the Narcissus flower. In ancient China, there is a legend about a poor but good man, who was brought many cups of gold and wealth by this flower. Since the flower blooms in early spring, it has also become a symbol of Chinese New Year. Narcissus bulb carving and cultivation is even an art akin to Japanese Bonsai. If your Narcissus blooms on Chinese New Years, it is said to bring you extra wealth and good fortune throughout the year. On top of that, it has one of the sweetest fragrances of any flower. So it is highly revered in Chinese culture.
-Wikipedia

About a little less than 2 weeks later, our packaged arrived but got stuck at the Malaysian Customs. I have nothing good to say about them so I'm not going to even begin. But anyway my colleague got a LONG lecture from the pharmacist who checked thru our stuffs to make sure they were not anything dangerous and that we're not going to start making bombs in our houses. Colleague got lectured that she was only allowed to buy in one month's supply and not that much and so forth. Stupid people! It was only 2 freaking sets of skincare. Not a container filled shipment. Then again, it was about 12 pieces of night creams, make up removers, cottons, moisturisers... *whistle innocently*

Ta-daa, finally! It was real cheap too! We both bought a 10 piece skincare package and I included two extra masks for a grand total of RM320! We noted that some people were selling the sleeping mask for over RM50 each when the price of TWO sleeping mask + two free sample mask was only RM50. That's one reason we didn't buy them online. Too bloody expensive and the waiting time is actually longer since they need to gather enough orders.

Anyway the set included one mousse cleaner, one cream cleaner, one make up remover, 2 moisturisers (day and night) 2 toners (day and night) one sleeping mask, one BB cream and 3 boxes of cotton pads. I bought an extra package which includes the above mentioned 2 sleeping mask (rose and lavender) + two smaller lavender sample.

One of the coolest thing about the entire Naruko set is that each and every box can be turned into something. For example, the Rose sleeping mask's box I got could be turned into a card holder. It even comes with instructions! The inside of the boxes are not all the same, they have it in green, purple, grey, pinks and so forth. Talk about recycling. Love it!

I've tried the products on for about a couple of days now and I'm pretty satisfied with it. No pimples so far *fingers crossed* and the rose sleeping mask smells heavenly. Colleague didn't really like the lavender smell tho, I'm fine with it.

I was initially really excited about the BB cream but I found out that it was merely somewhat of a tinted cream. The old me would not have even given this thing a second glance when I found out that it is super sheer. It will NOT conceal nor hide anything. It gives skin a dewy healthy look besides evening out the skin tone. Considering the fact it's so sheer, how does it smooth of skin tone? Don't ask me. I say it as I see it.

Luckily, skin has been under control lately and I no longer wear alot of make up, so this was fine. I wore this to work + some blusher and that's it! JH prefer the no make up me, but me prefer me with lots of make up, nyahah!

NOTD of the week!
Shooting stars~ actually call them whatever you like..

I'm 26!!

As you may or may not know, my birthday just passed last weekend and because I'm so awesome, the Penang Governor made it a public holiday...*snigger*

Really, it was a public holiday ... oh er, it was also his (our Governor's) birthday so... *ahem* anyway, the birthday celebration started on Friday when JH took me to Miraku, a very nice Japanese restaurant in G-Hotel. It was also one of the first places; the other being Penang Hill, he took me on one of our very few dates during courtship. It wasn't that we had very few dates, it was more like our courtship was really really short. Muahahaha!

Anyway me being me, got all dressed up, la dee da and then forgot to take any pictures. The food as good as usual and we even got a special Birthday dessert from the chef (but only thanks to the fact that JH knows him :P)

Saturday was spent out for lunch with Elisa since Kern was in KL, Elyn was working, TJ is obviously in Holland probably waiting for World Cup to start and JH was at a Magic: The Gathering: M11 Launch Party.

It's always nice to have a girl time like this. It's becoming so rare lately since everyone's busy chasing their dreams, getting pregnant, giving birth, getting married and everything else in between. So E and I being none of the above (okay okay, E's busy chasing her dreams but made time for me :D) spend our time gossiping and learning, who and who's getting pregnant, giving birth, getting married...

Headed to Mario's, our current favourite Italian restaurant in Batu Ferringhi on my actual birthday for dinner with parents. The food was awesome. So delicious and affordable. After dinner, the birthday cake time. As mom puts it, no birthday is complete without a cake! This year's Tiramisu from Ritz. Heavenly.

Requested for no birthday song and that only 2 candles be lit. The rest can be hidden, scattered around for all I care. NYAHAHAHA!

So what did he got me? JH being JH (meaning: VERY stingy oh err..hehee I mean thrifty) got me something I didn't expected. His younger brother was coming back from UK for semester break so he got me a LV Neverfull MM from London.

*Muaksmuaksmuaksmuaks JH*

I know it's not the latest or anything but hell, I'm jumping around doing the JH bunny dance now. My 2 year quest is finally completed! FYI, the original quest was not to get my bf to buy me a LV Neverfull but to get one myself. Unfortunately I underestimated the price and budget was a little tight after quitting my job and all so quest was abandoned and forgotten.

As for Elisa, me got a Origins Drink Up mask! My #1 favourite hydration mask. Not only does it smells of Peaches and Apricots, it works wonders. I got a tester for it once and loved it ever since but since the price tag is a little hefty at RM95. 3 words: Can't afford it. :P

I've tried lots of hydration mask and nothing works better than this. I'm so happy. Now I got something to keep my Origins Out of Trouble mask company. As for those that posted on my face book and previous post. Thank you as well!! I appreciate them just as much.

Oh by the way, I cut my hair again. Finally!
