Finger Infection; Maybelline's Baby Lips

I apologise for the lack of post, it has not been a good 2 weeks for me. Out of no where an entire army of pimples came barging in and decided to stay with me for a good long vacation and refuses to go away.

Also, there was a lack of NOTD because me being a smarty pants tore my cuticles and left an open wound on my finger which then got infected. Nothing you guys wanna see. It hurt for a good 2 weeks before it turned purple and swell like a sausage. Out of desperation, I messed with it till the green pus came exploding out. Ugh right? Now, imagine my reaction?

On my last trip to Singapore, I saw Maybelline's Baby Lips at Watsons but being stingy, I decided to come back to Penang to get it hoping it'll be cheaper. I ended up waiting for a good 3 months before it arrived selling at the same price as Singapore after the exchange rate conversion. FML!

I wasn't sure if the lip balm was tinted or not so to remain safe, I got one named soothing cherry. Upon opening it, it turned out to be colourless (D'oh). UGHHH NOOOO. I no like cherry! Anyway the lip balm promises 8 hour moisture and rejuvenate lips in ONE week. I'm going to put this for the test.

Ever since I started my new job, I've been applying the Lip Smackers' Cotton Candy lip gloss I won from Bunny's Giveaway a while back every day religiously. My lips are in pretty good condition now so let's see how Maybelline does.

Another thing I got from Watsons was the Rose Fairy hydrating facial toner and lotion. Not sure how good it works or will works but knowing that it's a in house brand, it'll probably be mediocre. I'm not biased but I've tried a couple of in house stuffs from Watsons and they range from really bad to bad to average.

The only reason I bought them was because I really liked the bottles. They reminded me of the little traveling size bottles from Anna Sui. At 50% off I decided that I could just throw away the content and just use the bottles. Then again, the rose smells really good. The toner reminds me of rose water. Hmmm~

EDIT: The toner smells funky when you pour it out on your hands. Pour is a good word to describe it since there's no stopper. The lotion is really oily. Me no likey...

FOTD - As Sir Thinks-He-Knows-Alot requested

After reading the list of Japanese favourite products 2011 from Ekimura, I immediately gave MAC a call 10 minutes before their closing time to check if they still have MAC Siss lipstick. The MAC Siss lipstick ranked 1st in the magazine and I want it it so badly. I was worried after reading in some forums that it has been discontinued.

Chris answered the call and a few seconds later confirmed that they had it. Whee! Early the next day. Sir Thinks-He-Knows-Alot aka Sir Terrible Memory, took me to Gurney Plaza to try the colour.

His comment, "You look like you ate some chocolate and forgot to wipe mouth." Uhh, thanks dear. I tried Creme D'Nude instead and after a moment, Sir Thinks-He-Knows-Alot commented that I just un-made myself.

Black black eyes

According to Sir Thinks-He-Knows-Alot, women should have red lips, it is unnatural to have brown/chocolate coloured lips. (MAC Siss was the colour of McDonald's chocolate ice cream cone on me - not the sundae, cone). In his (narrow) eyes, women should all have pale skin, black black eyes (eye makeup) and red lips.

I debated with Sir Thinks-He-Knows-Alot that we usually focus on just ONE feature. You can't do the eyes AND the lips. People wouldn't know where to look at! He just happily said, " Oh, but if you do the eyes AND the lips, it will make your look balance and everything will look good." Left me a little speechless.

For someone who can't tell between a lip balm and a lipstick, he sure talks a lot.

But I decided to make his wish come true... in a way to educate him.
  • Pale skin
  • Black black eyes
  • Red Lips
Got it! Things needed;

ELF eye primer
Elianto Whitening Fresh Foundation Stick
The Face Shop Phytogenic make up base in Green
La Pensee eyebrow palette
Botanics eyeshadows
MAC Typographic
Silkygirl Yin and Yang
MAC Kohl pencil in black
NYX jumbo pencil in Black Bean

Apply ELF primer all over eyes and then NYX Black Bean as base. Smear it all over till it's somewhat a shape you want. I brought it up higher than usual to emphasize the 'black black eyes'.

Layer Silkygirl Yang on top of NYX Black Bean and pat on it so there's little fall out. Use Botanic eyeshadow in pale gold to highlight the brow bone and clean up. MAC Typographic is used blend the harsh line gone.

Line waterline with MAC Kohl pencil. Apply falsies.

Apply TFS Phytogenic base all over face to reduce the redness and make yourself paler than usual.

Elianto Whitening Fresh Foundation Stick next.

Left to right: With lip gloss, without lipgloss

The sun is now out and I slowly roast in my own room. Make up starts melting. Quickly sets face with Anna Sui loose powder or whatever was within hands grab.

Line lips with Revlon lip liner, fill in with Secret Pouty Shine Lipstick in Wild Rose and MAC Cult of Cherry lip gloss

Make up continue melting, need pictures quick!

Put on wig, camewhore, hide behind window when dad walked pass. Camwhore a little more. Make up melted beyond help. Gave up.

To Sir Thinks-He-Knows-Alot:
Another request with black eyeshadow and I'll draw your face with my eyeliner while you sleep!

-----------------------------------------------

P.s: Thanks to all the comments, Sir Thinks-He-Knows-Alot now struts around with a super-sized head happily quoting the rest of you..

But thanks for the comment, it was nice to know I didn't look crazy or freaky or worst XD

Ughh..

The Uninvited, Etude House eyelash base review

Aren't they cutee?? I'm so loving them!

Was browsing around Gurney Plaza on Thursday, after I took an MC for food poisoning - AGAIN! Two freaking times in a month in less than two weeks apart. No wonder the doctor raised his eyebrows at me. Was looking for a small pressie for someone as a thank you for her presents but I couldn't find anything. Went round and round like a mad person and found the earrings. Only to find out later the person doesn't wear earrings... *kicks self*

Etude House Oh~m'Eye Lash
Eyelash base in white

After months of make up fasting, I'm quite proud of myself of my steadfast dedication - NOT. I nearly died actually. I only got this because I couldn't stand it anymore and after seeing Kern put on her base every morning at work, it drove me nuts and I got it. It's pretty reasonable too at RM17.90.

My two cents on it;

*Clears throat* Errmm.. ahhh.. uhhh..eeeee..ooooo..*scratch head*
Perhaps its just me, I am a single eyelid person and therefore, I have my eyelashes pushed down by my eyelids due to the lack of crease. I cannot use eye bases/ mascara with fibers as it will be weight down by them and after a few hours, will drop down.

Ta-daaa, faint at your own discretion
baseless, bare of barest, yes, envy my lack of eyelashes :P

This eye lash base has no fiber in it as far my my bad eye sight can see but it gets weight down just the same. It works well to give volume to my eyelashes by sticking some of it together. To me, it lengthen quite a bit too.

Anna Sui's mascara primer - free gift we got during the grand opening of Parkson, Gurney when we purchase Anna Sui's products over RM350
I'm cheap - so sue me

I'm not that liking it only because unlike the Anna Sui's mascara primer which is transparent too, it doesn't make my eyelashes stick up and hold it in position but instead droops down. I do not know what's Kern's take on it since she seems to not have this problem and she does have crease.

Right eye - Etude House Oh~m'Eye Lash
Left to right: See, it doesn't hold up despite curling my eyelashes, the effect

Left eye: Anna Sui Mascara Primer (the side with the short and little eyelash) Left to right: It holds up, the effect

Conclusion

It's cheap and it works okay, I'm not sure how much the Anna Sui's mascara primer cost but I'm pretty sure it doesn't cost below RM20. Probably I done something wrong or missed a step that's why I'm getting this effect (I've tried curling my eye lashes again too but still drops after a while) Maybe this will work better on other who eyelashes are the type that can take fibers in mascaras and so forth.

Anyway on Friday, (Labor Day - holiday = WHEEE!) Elisa, Kern and I decided an impromptu movie date. We decided on the movie, The Uninvited. We all piled into Kern's car and off we went with less than 20 minutes before movie started. Bought our snacks and went tumbling, blind as bats into the cinema right on time.

Description
Anna and Alex Rydell return home after a stint in a mental hospital, though their recovery is jeopardized thanks to their cruel stepmother, aloof father, and the presence of a ghost in their home
SPOILER

To be truthful, it wasn't scary at all, is it me or nowadays, Hollywood movies tend to focus more on the actress' beautiful face than anything else. The actress was really pretty too but anyway, no major scares. I think looking at my credit statements gives me more jolt than this. Yawn!

It totally reminded me of another previous movie I watched sometime ago. The Korean horror movie, The tale of the two sisters. The storyline is similar but the Korean version was alot scarier than the Hollywood one. Both had lots of loop holes that leaves you going, 'Huh?" more than once and after the movie, makes you wonder about this and that and why you even bother watching it in the first place.

Another thing it reminded me of was my favourite game in the whole wide world *grins* America McGee's Alice. I could play it everyday for hours back then, I loved it so much and I still do. The scene where the main actress leaves the Asylum reminded me of the one when Alice left hers.

Another thing is that the description of the movie is totally wrong. The only mental patient was the little sister Anna. Instead of being some horror film, it was like some psychological / detective movie. If you can put two and two together (McGee's Alice + Tale of two sisters) you can pretty much get half of the story + ending figured out.

I'm puzzled as to why the Wright children kept showing up to Anna is beyond me as she has nothing to do with them.

Seriously don't bother paying RM10 to watch this.

Cover of McGee's Alice and the altered version of Cheshire Cat

Plot
Shortly after her second adventure, Alice's house is burned down by a fire, killing her parents, and leaving her as the only survivor. Because of the guilt, she tries to commit suicide (bandages can be seen on her wrists), and becomes catatonic. She is institutionalised in Rutledge Asylum. Years later, the White Rabbit summons Alice to aid a radically altered Wonderland, now under the despotic rule of the Queen of Hearts. The Cheshire Cat serves as Alice's companion throughout the game, frequently appearing to guide her with cryptic comments.

Anna Sui Loose Powder + Tint Rouge Jar

Anna Sui's long awaited Loose Powder

The first day that the Gurney Plaza new wing opened it was pure mayhem and chaos. It was like everyone has been on a fast for a month and suddenly they were like hungry sharks out for the kill. But still we had fun. Seeing all the new layouts and the new cosmetic counters that just opened was like letting loose kids in a candy store. The excitement was contagious and we couldn't stop grinning like idiots. To the KL people or whoever who has always always had these counters, would probably think it's no big deal but for us Penangites, it was a BIG deal as we've always had to either ship the things from KL or beg a friend to buy it for us.

But anyway, I ended up getting the Anna Sui Loose powder in 002 as the packaging totally blew me off and the reviews was good. So far, my skin has been dry (from Mior) so it has not been looking all that great but once my skin returns to normal, I'll update my thoughts on it.

Me loving the rose scent that's on every Anna Sui's products. Love it! Ahhhhhh~

Above: Mascara primer
Left to right: Whitening serum, eye make up remover, nail enamel (rose scented)
Not shown: The samples + tissue cover + Compact powder sample

The free gift that came with it. Elisa, Kern and I ended up spilling our samples and free gifts and I was a little unlucky to get the things that I didn't quite like. But Kern being sweet, exchange a few stuffs with me to make me happy. Awwwww~

Elisa took the vouchers we got to buy her much drooled after Bobbi Brown paper blotters.

I couldn't get this outta my head, it was the Tinted Rouge Jar. So cute. It's totally clear but change our lip colour to a much darker natural lip colour. I got this because I have extremely pale lips. I literally look like I'm either sick or I'm playing a walking corpse without lipstick. I needed something that would not be licked or eaten off. So this was good. I did not get the one from The Face Shop because the colour comes off a darker pinkish purple colour on my lips. It looked artificial on me.

Clear? Clear? Good...

Some random pic of me with the MAC Warm Eyes palette and falsies

How it looks like without the false eyelashes. See how thick my eyeliner issssss....

The other side of the MAC Warm Eyes palette, the browny side that I wasn't too keen on or even knew what to do with. I was a little desperate to try it so I 'conjured' up something/anything and this is it!

P.S: Please don't kill us Mr. J! We're girls, we cannot help ourselves everytime we walk by a cosmetic counter. Anyway we had to go catch Elisa's brains back, remember?
