Creepy historical places in Penang
Atleast now, I know some of the most haunted places in Penang that you should never ever go alone.
Some of the places have long closed down or sealed off but the stories lives on. They were creepy as well as fascinating with bits of history and mystery.
Places such as Coronation Camp near the Botanical Garden opposite the Moon Gate, apparently is one of the places mentioned. Along with Youth Park camp site, and one of the all-boys school in Penang where Hockster and Padios once studied in.
The All-Boys school was built as far back as late 19 century and was once the headquarters of the Japanese 'Secret Police' during the WW2. There's underground tunnels which still exist today much to my surprise, was so that the resistance could sneak in and eavesdrop on the secret police. But just as well, some of the 'specific' classrooms are highly avoided after school time as there has been sighting of either a Japanese girl in one of the classrooms to sightings of a Brother ( in a robe, slippers and the 'Wong Fei Hung' hair style) teaching in a full classroom.
For today, most of the places Padios mentioned had something in common; they were places that the Japanese executed the Chinese.
As far as I know, Coronation Camp has now been sealed off and that place rank pretty high in Padios Book of Creepiness. Hockster and Padios mentioned a numbered camp site that the scouts used to camp in that was the weirdest. In their words, it was like entering a different dimension where the atmosphere is 'deaden' and frequent sightings of severed limbs lying around in the corner of your eyes. It was also in that camp that Padios saw a friend get possessed and was doing some of the oddest things which made Padios never to overnight in that place ever again.
Definitely not not not a place I wanna visit or go to. I rather be called a coward and still have my sanity at the end of the day.
The other place mentioned above was the Youth Park, another infamous place that even E had weird encounters in. It's a pretty nice place for sports and recreation during the day but people usually try to avoid that place after the lights go down. On high up on one of the hills, was also an execution ground, where after the deed is done, they would flung the body down which happens to land very close to one of the campsites. I'm not going to mention which cause it might scare some people and the Penang Tourist people might come after me...
Camping in those areas goes without saying, the rule of Three, meaning, you need to be accompanied by atleast 3 people to toilets and such and the trick is to keep talking to make sure that your friends is fine. Usage of foul languages is prohibited as well as mentioning 'odd' happenings such as hearing someone playing the piano in the middle of the night in a jungle with no houses anywhere near it. No answering to anyone calling your name in the middle of the night as well as turning around when someone slaps you on your shoulders.
Then again, this is all something that most of us Asians kids would know. I mean, hell, my grandma reminded me enough times as a kid for it to get stuck in my head.
Afterall, my late Grandma has her fair share of 'odd' happenings staying in the restaurant. The restaurant is built over looking the sea and somewhat 'stuck' on a big massive rock. Imagine a house and a massive big rock and combine the two together. To the back is a forest that people frequently 'disappear' in and never to be found - not alive anyway. So growing up, I've heard so many stories that I grew to love them so much. So that's one reason I'm always looking for the best horror movies.
Question of the Day: Did you know that there is a Jewish Cemetry on Penang?

Hell, if he ever campaigned to be Malaysia's Prime Minister, I would have gave me my FULL support. We are desperately in need of more people like this, people who can speak their mind with intelligence and without bias. Someone who's two feet is on the ground and can tell the difference between what's right and wrong. This man has earned my respect. I salute him!

The Malays are 'technically' in power governing the country but it is also this same controlling group that demands the right to correct economic imbalances and disparities for its own race.
What does this say about the 'majority governing' Malay race for the last 50 years? I dare say that most Malaysians (regardless of race) below the age of 40 would like to see all opportunities be spread amongst those who deserve it on meritocracy.
We do not need the keris anymore to tell others to be careful of what they say and do because in the survival of the fittest, the keris is of very little relevance!
If we continue to hide under the 'bumiputera' tempurung as most Malays have been in the last 50 years or more, the catch-up game will just get harder and the gap wider.
If we continue to expect without earning it, we will never learn how to be a race that succeeds on merit. There is NO substitute for merit. The Malay politicians continue to shout about Malay rights and bumiputera rights because the very nature of our local politics is sadly racially biased.
In this day and age, a great nation is built upon joint success stories, meritocracy and the combined hard work of its people WITHOUT any fear or favour of racial biased politics governing our daily policies. Sadly, the Malay politicians have ended up completely corrupt, racialists, twisted religious fanatics.
I am below 40 and as much as I love the 'idea' that Malaysia is tanah tumpahnya darah orang Melayu, I can't help but also feel that this country is for ALL Malaysians alike including the Chongs, the Kumars, the Xaviers, the Singhs & Kaurs etc who were born on the same day in the same hospital as me here in Malaysia.
If we feel that WE (the Malays) deserve this country more than THEM , then WE (the Malays) should have shown them a long time ago that we deserve the 'control all' status.
We have to earn it. The policies FAILED because the very concept of Malay rights or the NEP/DEB is like a double-edged sword. On one hand, it aims to eradicate wealth disparity but on the other, it has made the Malays oblivious of what reality is. Our (Malays) success is only reflected in the 'perceived' political power which today can collapse in a matter of minutes. I would also like to see my children succeed in their country, Malaysia, for reasons that true success should be based upon, which are merit and hard work and NOT because they are Malays or bumiputeras.
For as long as the Malays don't see this, there is very little point in fighting for Malay rights..
It just makes us look more ridiculous. We have taken this notion of being privileged a bit too literally in that it now simply means we want this country and its fruits all for ourselves without accepting the responsibilities that come with it. I blame the MALAY politicians for this because we want to only fight the cause without strategising for the true substance and need of the cause. We have been given fish all the while without being taught how to fish.
It's funny how two different generations can be so diverse in their thinking and the recent elections proved just that... We are no longer concerned with racial problems but more so the never-ending Malay agenda issues. The rakyat has spoken and the landscape has drastically changed. Is this change welcomed? Is it good?
The answer is 'NO'. Because we,the Malays, have been caught with our pants down - we are not ready to compete on any level playing field (we can't even compete on advantageous grounds!). Even with three or five more continuing policies for Malay rights or bumiputera privileges over the next 50 years, we will still be in exactly the same position as we are in today.
The truth hurts and the truth will always prevail. And the truth of what's to come will NOT go away. I am cynical perhaps because I feel that Malay rights is NOT relevant anymore.
The right to be safe, to be treated fairly, to have a world-class healthcare and education, to enjoy equal prosperity, to have good governance, to live in a clean environment and to be war-free is what I want for my Malaysia. NOT for MY race to be artificially powerful.
If we want the Malays to fail, then by all means continue the fight for Malay rights. Go and polish your keris..

ps
In recent months we have seen the Syariah Courts allowing quite a few Malays to exercise their rights to a third or fourth wife. Fair, the guy may be able to provide for the financial & conjugal needs of his wives. However, question here is when he has a dozen kids, will he be able to provide a decent education and life to his kids or will he demand for his 'Rights' for subsidy and aid and be a burden to the govt and society.

Celeste & I, hair cut
I love the E & O Hotel, I still remember the days before the major renovation and upgrade. The restaurant back then was so classy to me and it had a nice big stage and a dance floor for people to dance. Lights dimmed with big chandeliers from the ceiling. As a kid I was so impressed. But if I remembered correctly, the lobby had toilet-like mosaic tiles which were...uh.
Halfway thru dinner, big sister decides to camwhore...
Tadaaa, I've stuffed most of my make up in and everything's so neat now
So after 4 hours at the hairdresser's place, I came out with somewhat of a 'Bob'. Not exactly what I wanted. I had initially wanted an old style of Victoria B. 's haircut but Ronny decided that it look odd with two tails on the front that he 'improvise' on it and I ended with this instead. Not much complain since I don't look goddamned awful and hair grows anyway - eventually.
I forgot my lipstick again, don't mind me
And when I washed my hair today, I had purple colour hair suds which reminded me of a time long long ago when I was being stupid when I dyed my hair bright red. It wasn't bright enough to be mistaken as Ronald McD's little sister but close. Went to Genting and everywhere I went, everyone stared at my hair. It was bloody uncomfortable. Best part? I washed my hair and it totally stained the towel in the hotel. I hid the towel properly before checking out. I'm guessing that the house keeper must have been cursing me when they found it as the dye probably isn't gonna come out anytime soon.
Bobbi Brown's Shimmering Nudes
MAC, Bare Study - all over lid up to brow bones
Etude House, BR302 - inner eye corner, brow bones
Bobbi Brown, Espresso - Lower eyelid
Bobbi Brown, Nude Mist - Middle of lids
Blend, blend and blend
Bobbi Brown black gel eyeliner to line and apply mascara of choice.
Hmm, is BB Espresso suppose to be brown brown or grey-ish brown? It's not my imagination after all when I said that it appears more grey-ish brown on me.
How did you spend your V-day?
I'm 25 and still clueless. I've never been able to openly tell someone I'm interested and it's starting to bug me a little. The people surrounding me are usually all attached but when I do have a chance to witness flirting or outrageous 'I-like-you-and-I'm-telling-it-to-your-face', I'm fascinated. I'm spellbound and my eyes will literally bulged out watching the female's every move and secretly admiring her guts.
Perhaps one of these days, I'll need to enroll myself in some kind of class and also to get over my fears. I have this imminent fear of rejection maybe that's one reason I just can't bring myself to open up and say it out loud.
*Sigh*
Not that I'm currently eyeing anyone but I might need to start learning if I don't wanna be lonely for the rest of the year. Then again, with friends like E, and the guys at the Clubhouse, how can anyone be lonely...hmm.
Onwards,
Met Elyn last week or so and as usual, it was fun and interesting. She told us alot about herself and her life and I must admit that she had us at the edge of our seat with her stories. :D
She also gave both me and E, a box of sample mineral make up and primers from Monistat and Smashbox to try out. I'm really touched by her gesture, she's really so sweet! Much love, Elyn!
Headed over to Tat @ Andrew's place for the Single's Pool Party or something like that, a few very happily attached people also attended and we sat down having drinks and listening to 70's, 80's and 90's music on Youtube the entire night with Capes doing the MC Hammer dance and so forth. Ended my night with smses from Khim Sun, only to find out later he was pissed drunk and had no idea what the hell he was saying.
P.s: Called a certain someone to wish him only to get yelled at. Someone obviously need to get distemper shots.

I decided to translate the lyrics just for the heck of it and it scare the shit outta me,
here's the already translated lyrics to Sen no Yoru wo Koete from Bleach, The movie - Memories of a Nobody by Aqua Timez.
"I want you to love me, but I dont think you will."
I wander around as I repeat this to myself
It's the only answer I have, even if I'm scared of getting hurt.
I'll say "I love you" to the one I love
Do you love me or not?
I don't care what the answer is, I just need to know!
No matter how badly I desire to be with you
There are many unchangeable things in this world
and my love for you
can't be stopped by anyone
As 1000 nights pass, I long to tell you
I have to let you know
"I want you to love me, but I don't think you will."
Translation by Babel Fish:
We would like you to love being,
it probably will love,
that wandering about in the repetition which it does not do,
one fearfully it passes the scar attaching reaching and favorite in the person good finishing the answering which I find and it conveys, it is
You loving me,
the [ru] the kana which is not loved it is the lever already it is to call is with whichever,
how you will ask and probably will desire but in this world those which are not changed is Sawayama,
probably will be, so and I loving you, as for just the fact,
[ru] therefore the truth which is not changed into anyone
Exceeding thousand nights, we would like to convey to you, you must convey,
there are times we would like you to love being,
Now you can know... now I know. If you'll excuse me while I go out and pull my hair a bit.

Etude House mini haul, MAC Bare Study + Otherworldly swatch
I didn't get much mainly because of my New Year's Resolution on to not spend that much money on make up. I got only some stuffs that I thought maybe I'll need. I gotten the Magic Enzyme Pack Peeling, a type of face scrub. You apply it on your face, pat it till it dried a little and pretty much just use your hands and rub, it'll come off in chunks, a big thanks to Kern for teaching me. Was totally blur on how to use it as I forgot to ask the SA.
I also bought the nail base because it smell pretty good. The Etude House nail colour has this fragrance of the grape Fanta juice. YUM! A slight whiff smells of it and not when you smell it really close of course. I have no idea whether it'll protect my nails from discoloration or anything since I have not use it though.
Decided to get the Orgel eyeliner brush cause my Elianto's one was starting to split in 3 ways maybe due to the fact I use it a little too frequently. I cannot live without my eyeliner, how sad is my life?
The Romantic Beauty Stand (black bucket) is a gift from my darling, Elisa. I was contemplating on whether I should get it or not and debating with myself whether I needed it when she passed me a big plastic bag. Took one peep and ta-daaaaa, there it was. I'm so happy!
It's not often I get gifts from friends so the Romantic Beauty Stand from E, Snapples from Elyn and the free gifts I got from an online seller really made me happy. Am I a bloody damned cheapskate for loving free stuffs? XD
Ordered some stuffs from this online seller, it's not the first time I bought from her so I wasn't too worried about whether she's trustworthy and all. Was a little disappointed to see that the Otherworldly paint pot was being sold for pretty high since it was a 'highly' sought after colour. It's from the MAC Alexander McQueen collection back in 2007! But I remember taking one look at it then and falling madly in love with the colour. Unfortunately by the time I knew about it, the collection was long over.
Bare study was something I wasn't planning on getting till E got hers and showed me how beautiful the colour was. One swipe later, I had to get it too. It'll go perfectly with the Taylor Swift inspired make up that I wanted to do!
It was a little unfortunate that depite getting free pos laju shipping, the items came only after one week instead of one day. I was going a little nuts waiting for them and when it finally came, no one was home and I had to collect it in Lebuh Victoria the next day. Thankfully, it was very close to our work place.
To make it up for the delay, the seller sent me facial wipes, blotters and a free NYX eye shadow, heeeee~
A short short update
After sleeping on it and after some thinking, a flower pot is indeed nice to look at and I've calmed down and not feeling all that emotional anymore. I'm alright now, please don't worry. A good cry and good friends always solves my problems.
Those those who were concerned, thank you very much! I'm really alright now and I decided that well, afterall everyone's entitled to their 2 cents anyway.

The Bad and The Ugly
Don't worry 'bout me
I'll get along
Just you forget about me
Be happy my love
Just say that our little show is over
And so the story ends
Why not call it a day,
the sensible way
And we'll remain friends
Look out for yourself
Should be the rule
Just give your heart and your love,
to whom ever you love
Don't you be a fool
Baby why stop and cling,
to some fading thing
That used to be
So if you can't forget
Don't you worry 'bout me
- Don't worry 'bout me, Billie Holiday
I truly appreciate your presence in my life. Thank you.
3rd February 2009
It hurts me because it was sudden, but then to you, you have thought about it months earlier. the loves perhaps had faded off by now and didn't hurt you as it did me. But nevertheless, take care and I'm sure you'll find someone better and closer to you.
The Ugly
Got stuck in traffic jam coming home from QueensBay Mall on Thaipusam for a good 3 hours...with the urge to pee and no where to do it. LOL!

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
It's been some time since I've started buying things online. I loved it for the convenience and the fact that they deliver to our doorsteps, besides that we could also get things that we might have difficulty finding in our area and sometimes if we're lucky, a good bargain.
And as usual, there's all sorts of people online. There are some asses as well some really nice people. I've been fortunate enough to have met quite a few asses both as a seller myself and as a buyer.
But yesterday was a highlight for me, both because my name got highlighted for being late to work and had to pay a fine (1st time since I started work) to my Team Leader and also because I met a fantastic person (besides E of course :P)
E was the first to meet up with her during a COD in Bukit Mertajam and came back telling there's this person whom she wanted me to meet and how nice she was. That really got me thinking, it's a little unusual to hear E 'rave' (is that the word) about someone and want me to meet her. And so I did.
And I'm glad I did, Elyn struck me as a make up enthusiast and a very interesting person, she's fun and chatty and is the type that wasn't afraid to share tips with people. I felt really comfortable around her and I now understand why E wanted me to meet her. It's a little sad that she had to hurry back to beat the jam at the Greenlane area but the meeting was really fun.
She gave me the Kiwi Snapples on our first meeting and I couldn't tell you how far my eyes budged out. I've seen people selling it online but I never knew how cute the bottles were till I first laid eyes on them. E happily showing me her Raspberry Snapples and how I turned green with envy and was left drooling at them. Never thought I'll be able to get one myself. Happy happy! It's now happily in my make up bag, something I don't plan on removing.

Adopted!
If a picture is worth a thousand words, well, here's my one thousand word essay. Conclusion, it finally happen last Tuesday while I was on MC. Everything is now official and I've official 'adopted' or 'absorbed' into Mr. W's team.
I guess in a way, I'm happy, although my previous team leader was good, Mr. W isn't too bad and I've always liked him. My previous team leader will now be based in the Bukit Mertajam branch. I'm a sad that he left but also in a way, it also means that I now get to work in the bank just a little longer. This was meant to be my last month but now I get an extension of one more month and I really need work my ass this month. I hate disappointing people and I can't help but feel that I've let my previous team leader down. *sigh*
Oh Oh, happy news.
I bought the Bobbi Brown Shimmering Nudes too. I've been wanting it after reading E's good reviews on it. Read E's reviews here.
It's fairly detailed about the colours and after reading and hearing E's raves, I wanted it too but unfortunately it's limited edition and it wasn't readily available anymore. Thanks to some stroke of good luck, the company decides to send all unsold stocks of the shimmering nudes to the Penang counter. That's where I got mine from.
I must admit that I don't usually use nude colours and paying RM190 for the palette was a little 'painful' but it's pretty worth it on second though. I can now go on vacation with just this palette and my MAC paintpot in blackground and forget the rest. I'm still experimenting with the colours and I must say that I seem to have a little problem with Espresso. I have no problems with the other colours but Espresso changes colour on me. Described as rich, dark chocolate brown it comes off looking a little grey-ish on me. Weird. I doubt there's anything wrong with the product itself so I'm a little surprised at my own skin reaction.

Reviews on castor oil, ZA Vitamin Lips, Palmer's Dark Chocolate Lip Butter
Fast forward, I have to admit that I'm really lazy to put it on my eyelashes and I've used it lets says less than 7 times. E has the problem of the oil entering her eyes and causing her blurred vision while for me, I use it sparingly, maybe a little too sparingly that's one reason I don't get the problem and any results. LOL.
A while back, E chance upon a person selling castor oil online in a forum. Not to be mean or anything but I just had to quote out this person;
She mentioned that she had troubles searching for castor oil and out of desperation, had wanted to order online and pay international shipping. Finally found a shop that sells, which is always out of stock and waited a month just to get her bottle and now wants to share it with everyone!Awww, that's sweet. It really is. Oh, and the person was selling it for RM5 for 10ml (COD) or RM9 for 10ml (Pos Ekspres).
Problem is castor oil is easily available in almost any Indian shop along Little India. It's never out of stock since they apparently use it for cooking and had the shock of their lives when me and E told them we wanted it for our eyelashes. Just thought that I should point out that me and E bought an entire bottle for RM3. *cough* and that's the bigger, better quality one rather than the smaller, crummy packed RM2.
Anyway she was unable to provide pictures of her own eyelash since she has a pretty bad camera so I thought "Hey why not, I try this experiment myself!" I'm sincerely interested in seeing the results myself so what the heck, but due to my laziness, the results were a little disappointing. I guess I have myself to blame.
Left to right: Before and After. Click on pic to enlarge,
Gosh, I'm so embarrassed of these two pictures >.<
Onwards ho, mates!
Next up, bought this when I was a little desperate for lip balm for my lips. It was NOT very convenient to carry out my Perfumeria Gal Madrid lip balms so I had to buy one which is easy to carry out and Ta-Daa, saw the ZA Vitamin Lip at Watsons at RM14.90 for 2! My mom wanted one too so this was great. Thinking back, if it's too cheap to be true, it probably is. Damnit!
Item: ZA Vitamin Lip
Price: RM14.90 for 2
Where: Watsons or any local drugstore
Descirption on the front: Lip treatment infused with Pure Vitamin C keeps lips looking healthy and smooth. SPF 26. PA+++ UVA/UVB
my 2 cents on it;
Believe it or not, when applied, it has a very salty taste. I'm not sure whether it's because of the pure vitamin C or whatever but I can't stop myself from licking it! Not that it taste good or anything but it's just something I couldn't stop myself from doing. Because of that, I'm not sure if my licking made my lips dry or because of the lip balm that my lips peeled... like an orange. Okay, exaggeration on that part but my lips peeled.
I asked a friend if she had the same problem when using it and she said that hers became dry but it didn't peel. So if there's anyone out there who's thinking about buying this, save your money and buy Vaseline instead, cost about RM5 for a bottle to last you a life time.
But if there's any reviews or comments from people who has bought and used this before, feel free to post up, I would like to hear your reviews!
Pro: Contains SPF, cheap, small and easy to carry
Cons: Made my lips peel, taste salty
Would I repurchase: Hell NO!
Because of the failure of ZA Vitamin Lips, I had to buy another lip balm, so I ended up with this instead. Palmer's Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter, sounds YUMMY!
Item: Palmer's Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter
Price: RM14.90
Where: Watsons or any local drugstore
Description on the front: Softens & soothes lips, adds subtle gloss
my 2 cents on it;
Hmm... it states that it gives us a slight tingle when applied which is about true for about 3 seconds. So since it did say slight, so fine. The dark chocolate and peppermint smell is heavenly, it's unfortunate that it doesn't last very long, it sorta fades a way quite quickly after application. While it does sooth our dry/chapped lips, its because it pretty much vaseline. I'm really not kidding, it's good and all but I once applied it to sleep and the very next morning, upon waking up, I woke up with vaseline like substance in terms of smell and texture on my lips.
Pro: Smells heavenly, nice subtly gloss
Cons: Feels and taste like Vaseline after a while, smell doesn't last long
Would I repurchase: Yes only because it's convenient, No because Vaseline works the same. So it depends on my desperation level then.
A round of applause please, the ZA compact fits into my MJ compact quite nicely.
One thing I love about ZA is the two- way foundation powder. Comes with SPF 20 PA ++ UVA/UVB. I tend to wait till there's a special promotion when it sells for 2 for only RM49.90 rather than the usual RM33.90 for one. Hee~
To date, it never fails to make E compliment my skin as it smooth out my skin way better than most foundations I use and the coveraage is pretty good. I use colour number 21 and it's super natural on me, Ahh, love love love it. Cheap and good. *Muaks*
Only con about it is that ZA turquoise compact casing is butt ugly, but now that it's confirmed able to fit into a MJ casing, it's no longer a problem. For me anyway.

Down right sick!
While returning from Queenbay Mall yesterday with E, I kept complaining that I was feeling sick in the stomach, how was I to know that I was actually down with food poisoning. As soon as I got home, I rushed to toilet and phew! Hell let loose. Later the night I couldn't sleep because I kept having night mares and by then, my joints were aching like crazy which I suspected I was down with fever. My body was literally like Katy Perry's new song, "Hot & Cold" the entire night. I covered myself with 2 blankets then kicked them off, the covered myself again then kicked it off again, the entire night! Not to mention, I felt like puking.
To make matters worst, I kept dreaming of zombies. One reason to stop playing L4D too much. I dreamt of me as Old Man Bill, as I've always called him shooting zombies with a shotgun and after the last horde, with my life in red, I saw a First Aid kit not far but it was too far for me to reach and I couldn't heal myself. What kind of stupid dream is that?
Later that night after countless of toss and turn, Mengulung-gulung style, I dreamt that I was still shooting zombies in a dome like arena. With somewhat stained glass azure blue glass shaped dome and my shotgun was so 'yeng', It could scatter so beautifully and ...wide.
*sigh*
I initially considering going to work since it's the first day of work after a long break but come morning, I was too sick to crawl out. I was wondering if there could be any news about which team I'll be heading too. Messaged Mr Team Leader and I still couldn't go back to sleep. I was so hard for me to even drag myself out from the bed, my feet felt like jelly and my back felt like it got pounded by a tank. My head was still spinning like the 70's disco ball and Katy Perry's Hot & Cold was still playing. I think my brain got fried.
Finally dragged myself to see the doctor, and lo and behold, it was food poisoning with slight fever and low blood pressure of 60-70 and dehyration. Nice combo. Was advised to eat nothing oily but porridge with salt, cream crackers, drink cans after cans of 100plus.
Couldn't even attend our team's last meeting. That was shitty. It's now about 6.30pm and I still have not ate anything other than drinking 100plus. ARGH!
