The 60' are back?

It's been a long long while since I even attempted an EOTD. My life is so boring now *sniff* but while watching my favourite Youtube make up channel, pixiwoo I saw them do a 60's make up look inspired by Gucci. I really liked the look but it made me wonder for days on how to even achieve it without even having any crease.

Crease? What about it?

Pictures from google

The 60's look looks something like above where they deepen the crease of the eyes by applying eyeshadow. Of course, the picture above is an updated version. I will not be doing the updated version but rather a toned down everyday look that won't make your colleague shit their pants when they see you. Thank God the Hungry Ghost month is over!

Picture from google

Of course this will be mostly aimed at monolids like myself since those with creases just follow your crease. For us poor folks, Jen says it best when she said, ' My crease doesnt exist dammit.'

So lets begin to fake our crease, I used whatever that is available within arm's length and grabbed a brown eyeliner. I drew the line following the place between my bone and eyeballs, so don't be alarmed when you find that the shape is a little different, both my eyes' line came out different :P

One mistake that I did was to bring the line so close to the inner corner of my eyes. For those with creases it's okay but for us monolids, we should end the line a quarter or so and not so deep in.

The line is a guide line and after it's done it's job blend the *toot* out of it. Those with crease can probably leave the line a little more obvious but for monolids, it may be best to blend it till it's barely seen. Draw eyeliner and tilt it up. Draw the eyeliner thicker towards the back. And don't be stingy, draw alot! XD

And then you'll probably end up looking as silly as me. Nyahaha! See SEEE, isn't the crease looks a little weird on me? So I applied extra foundation just to cover the inner corner line that I initially drew and used some highlighting colour to colour my lids just above the eyeliner and below the "crease". Blend blend blend and draw some eyeliner about a quarter or half and apply both upper and bottom falsies. Which I *ahem* don't own any bottom ones :P

The lighting ain't the best so the crease line ended up not very obvious on the camera. Stupid camera, but bear with me, I highly doubt I'll be changing camera anytime soon. Mine still working so... I can't bear to change it.

Oh I forgot, for the 60's, they tend to darken their eyebrows quite a bit, for the modern version of the 60's, not too much so hey, it's up to you on whether you want the vintage or the modern 60's look.

*Scratch head* Now, was this EOTD even useful? *hair falls off*
I doubt it, GAH!

i r winner?? I R winner?! I R WINNAHHHHH!! XD

How's everyone? My job has been keeping me busy and sick it seems, lol. I've lost so much weight during this short few months that I've reached my old weight of 51kg. No whoo-pee-doo for me since I'm now a little too thin and I've pretty much lost both "front" and "back". Beside my weight, I'm also losing my hair. Seriously. It's been dropping crazily and give it 2 months or something and I'll have to start wearing a wig. ARGH.

It's always so like me to fall sick near to or on holidays or during my leave. I'm jinx! I have 4 super volcano sized ulcers in my mouth that leaves me unable to eat or drink. I'm constantly in pain that leaves me in tears. I'm grouchy, moody and snappy. I finally decided to load myself with painkillers and not talk, that way I feel much better.

Oh le le, oh la la *does the bunny dance*
Domo arigatou gozaimas, Bunny chan!!

Unfortunately, I came home to watch a Youtube video of Bunny's give away winner. Bunny ended up causing me alot of pain because by sheer luck, she picked me as a winner! I ended up jumping around and grinned a little too wide which probably stretch my ulcers and made me wanna cry. Pain! pain! but I'm so damned happy. I finally won something in my miserable life! I won something! Me? Meeeeeeee! MEEEEEEEEEE!!! Ulcer? What ulcer? Wheeeeeeeeeeeee!

Ignore me if you must but I never really won anything in life :P

I was really blur cause she pulled up #1 and then a #1 and I was like, "Oh, I didn't know there was 2 winners.." "Huh? The same person (#1) won twice?" And then when Bunny announced my name, I was like, "Oh wow! I'm winner #2, wonder why she didn't mentioned the first winner's name..."

Had to rewatch the video again to finally understand. Hmm, the effects of too much painkillers makes you stupid and slow.

I hereby declare that tomorrow (27/8) be a public holiday... XD

Naruko review part II

It’s been over 2 weeks since I first started using the Naruko skincare. Out of the 10 items, I didn’t use the mousse facial cleaner, morning toner and moisturiser. I skipped those because I’m still trying to finish up my Hada Labo moisturizing toner and my Olay morning moisturiser.

So for the morning, it’s still my usual stuffs but for my night regime, it’s Naruko’s mousse facial cleanser, ZA oil cleanser (if I’m not dead tired) Naruko facewash, followed by the night toner, night moisturiser (if I’m still not dead tired) and then either the Rose or Lavender sleeping mask.

How am I liking it?

I’m not liking it, I’m loving it! I thought I was dreaming but I realized that my pores shrunk and my face is much more hydrated than it has been in a long time. I noted my pores but was wondering if it could be because of other factors but when my colleagues commented on how her pores shrunk, I knew why. Of course nothing is perfect, there was somethings we didn’t like as well.

Things we dislike about the BB creams besides it being extremely sheer is the NO SPF part other than that is A-okay. The sleeping mask also tends to be very sticky. If you slap it on and go to bed, and if you’re like me who lay a towel on my pillow, you’ll wake up with your face and the towel stuck together. Nyahaha!

My colleague mentioned then I should pat my face like what I do for my Hada Labo toner. Pat it like no tomorrow and it shouldn’t be that sticky. Found out that, yea that works too. I’m definitely going to continue on with the products whether it makes my towel stick to my face or not cause I’m seeing results with it.

Since we ordered straight from their website, it cost us a lot less despite shipping being like RM60 each. We calculated that even with the extra RM60, it was cheaper than what others were selling. Only problem is the shipping (EMS) has decided to raise their price according to my colleague to about RM90 per person now. We decided that we’ll just get whoever who’s going to Taiwan to get it for us the next time.

I can’t say much for the whitening part as I usually take no notice of how ‘brighter’ my skin is. I only take notice when it’s not. Not to mention, Elisa has told me that she has yet to see me with dull skin.

Apologies for the lack of photos, will post them up later.

NOTD

Purple Glittery Nails <-- I'm so creative =_=

Need more topcoat but other than that, tadaaa!

Oh WoW!

I have a terrible secret. One that I will reveal. No, I didn’t kill any children in their sleep, no, my plans to rob the bank to fund my cosmetic habits has yet to materialize. (I’m kidding, don’t take me away!) but I’ve been playing WoW (World of Warcraft) for about a month now. I’ve been spending almost every night in JH’s house playing it. I don’t play at home cause my laptop will not be able to even run it.

My character; A priest

It all started when JH asked me if I was interested in WoW: Cataclysm, there will be werewolves character and all and showed me their videos. I saw the battled of Onyxia, the Romeo & Juliet battle as well as Little Red Riding Hood (Random players get turned into little Red Riding Hood and has to run from the big bad wolf XD) and was sold! I mean, they even have a Haris Pilton (Guess who?) selling designer bags (Very very expensive at 1200g per bag) there, how cool is that?

Guess who, it's Haris Pilton!! Why does this still cracks me up?

Yes yes I know, most girls absolutely loath even hearing even the name WoW and how many of us have complained about our boyfriends playing the stuuuupid game every single night and neglecting us?

I’m ashamed. I actually love that game. I know it’s so unromantic of JH to not bring me anywhere and spend our entire Saturday & Sundays doing dungeons after dungeons. But I’m really happy and have no complains. I still go out with Elisa whenever her schedule allows and JH does bring me to Gurney every Tuesday (server down for maintenance) for movie. I’m so easily contented.

The chicken dance; Pook pook pook pook!

Playing it reminds me of my days in SilkRoad Online. Playing SRO (SilkRoad Online) made me love WoW even more. Sure there’s a fee of RM30 per month for WoW and it’s FREE for SRO BUT here’s SRO downfall. You need to pay for easier log in. In other words, you need to pay to log in the game! Sure there’s extra exp and sorts and then you need a monkey to collect your loots (pay) and then in the very end, I discovered my ex spent over USD1000 on my character (excluding the extra USD500 on his character) in a year. That’s like what? 10 years worth of WoW? Like most MMORPG, it's very grind-y. Example; Collect 200 of this and that and you'll be stuck doing the damned quest for days, seeing and doing the same thing till you puke.

JH's character wearing our guild's tabard

Though we don’t take part in the guild’s activities, conversations or raids (We’re too low levelled at only 54) and it’s a little unlike [TYRANT] back in SRO where one scream from a person sends the entire guild to the place and then comes a guild war but who’ll forget the occasional in-fighting, drama among the females and so forth, but it looks pretty interesting here in the new guild. They accept just about anyone in the guild but are extremely strict when it comes to people who wants to join to raid, gotta respect them for that. I heard they were good. I would love to raid with them one day. One day when me and JH reach level 80. A long long time from now T.T

Naruko skincare + NOTD

Hee. I'm a little happy that I have a skincare crazed colleague in my office *ahem* who reads Chinese cause we both managed to buy the latest skincare range from Niu Er. If you're wondering who this Niu Er guy is, unfortunately, I can't really tell you a whole bunch as well. All I do know is that it's created by a very famous Taiwan make up artist (?) His other range include the Beauty DIY. There's not a person left in Taiwan who doesn't know him and he's some really famous guy. *Ahem* but I'm not for Taiwan. I'm a banana ( Yellow on the outside, white on the inside; in other words, a Chinese who cannot read/ speak Chinese) who don't usually buy skincare online. Pardon my ignorance.

* I finally learn how to write my own Chinese name!! At the age of 26! All Chinese would have been ashamed for me but to me, better late than never. Now where's the paper? Uhh..

So anyway, my colleague came up to me and asked if I was interested. Saw the packaging and the price and was hopping around nodding my head (literally) My first thought when I saw the name Narcissus was vanity, what an odd name then it stuck me that Narcissus is a flower. Remember the Greek guy that fell in love with his own reflection?

Googled pictures

The Narcissus flower is perceived quite differently in the east than in the west. Whereas in the west, the Narcissus flower is seen as a symbol of vanity, in China, the same flower is seen as a symbol of wealth and good fortune. The ancient Greeks believed this plant originated from the vain youth, Narcissus. He died after becoming so obsessed with his reflection in a pool he could not leave. The Greeks say that the gods turned his remains into the Narcissus flower. In ancient China, there is a legend about a poor but good man, who was brought many cups of gold and wealth by this flower. Since the flower blooms in early spring, it has also become a symbol of Chinese New Year. Narcissus bulb carving and cultivation is even an art akin to Japanese Bonsai. If your Narcissus blooms on Chinese New Years, it is said to bring you extra wealth and good fortune throughout the year. On top of that, it has one of the sweetest fragrances of any flower. So it is highly revered in Chinese culture.

About a little less than 2 weeks later, our packaged arrived but got stuck at the Malaysian Customs. I have nothing good to say about them so I'm not going to even begin. But anyway my colleague got a LONG lecture from the pharmacist who checked thru our stuffs to make sure they were not anything dangerous and that we're not going to start making bombs in our houses. Colleague got lectured that she was only allowed to buy in one month's supply and not that much and so forth. Stupid people! It was only 2 freaking sets of skincare. Not a container filled shipment. Then again, it was about 12 pieces of night creams, make up removers, cottons, moisturisers... *whistle innocently*

Ta-daa, finally! It was real cheap too! We both bought a 10 piece skincare package and I included two extra masks for a grand total of RM320! We noted that some people were selling the sleeping mask for over RM50 each when the price of TWO sleeping mask + two free sample mask was only RM50. That's one reason we didn't buy them online. Too bloody expensive and the waiting time is actually longer since they need to gather enough orders.

Anyway the set included one mousse cleaner, one cream cleaner, one make up remover, 2 moisturisers (day and night) 2 toners (day and night) one sleeping mask, one BB cream and 3 boxes of cotton pads. I bought an extra package which includes the above mentioned 2 sleeping mask (rose and lavender) + two smaller lavender sample.

One of the coolest thing about the entire Naruko set is that each and every box can be turned into something. For example, the Rose sleeping mask's box I got could be turned into a card holder. It even comes with instructions! The inside of the boxes are not all the same, they have it in green, purple, grey, pinks and so forth. Talk about recycling. Love it!

I've tried the products on for about a couple of days now and I'm pretty satisfied with it. No pimples so far *fingers crossed* and the rose sleeping mask smells heavenly. Colleague didn't really like the lavender smell tho, I'm fine with it.

I was initially really excited about the BB cream but I found out that it was merely somewhat of a tinted cream. The old me would not have even given this thing a second glance when I found out that it is super sheer. It will NOT conceal nor hide anything. It gives skin a dewy healthy look besides evening out the skin tone. Considering the fact it's so sheer, how does it smooth of skin tone? Don't ask me. I say it as I see it.

Luckily, skin has been under control lately and I no longer wear alot of make up, so this was fine. I wore this to work + some blusher and that's it! JH prefer the no make up me, but me prefer me with lots of make up, nyahah!

NOTD of the week!
Shooting stars~ actually call them whatever you like..

Update on my eyes

I took leave today hence free time to finally update my blog.

It's been a week since my eye surgery and it's been somewhat fine. Please note that eyery eye heals in different days and since mine had such high power to begin with, my healing time will be longer. The first day after the surgery, my colleagues mentioned that they were unable to even look at the computer screen and everything was extra bright for them, for me the brightness was fine but I became presbyopia. I was unable to read anything and it was hard to write as I could not see things close clearly. I am still suffering that now but I am able to see far with little or no problems. Doing eveything is a little like before, 60% based on sight, 40% based on guessing. Trust me, my guessing is so good that if I can read just bits of a word in a sentence, I can pretty much guess the rest.

I never realized how many people in the company actually went for this prcedure and weirdly, everyone says the same thing, 'Best thing I did in my life', even our very own Shop & Chomp, said the same thing, except that her's was something like 'Best thing I did in my life, besides marrying my husband' XD

As for me, would I say that? I'm still debating. I want clearer vision and I still want my contact lenses. LOL I'm a little greedy this way.

Best thing besides the eye surgery? I had little to no make up up nowadays. I am finally comfortable to show the world my actual skin. I'm so proud of myself. After the eye surgery, it was NO eye make up for a week. Imagine my horror when I first heard that, no mascara, no eyeliner? NOOOOOOOO!! Let me just die! Leave me alone and let me dieeeee!

Dramatic isn't it? But it was really how I felt. One week later, I don't care anyway. I just slap on some BB cream and blusher, colour in my eyebrows and I'm done. In 5 minutes flat and that means extra snooze time, yay!

I never claimed to have fantastic looking skin. My BB creams and foundation covered everything. Ahh, the wonders of cosmetics! Muaks!

A little while after surgery, I happily planned that after the surgery, I was going to secretly defy my surgeon's orders and wear contact lenses! Then I finally found out why that won't be happening.

1. Flattened cornea shape
2. Normal cornea shape

I remember him telling me that my corneo shape was going to change. I didn't expect that much. If you see 1. this is the shape of my cornea now. It's so much flatter than normal. No contact lenses are going to stick. *sigh* There goes my plan.

I can't wait to use make up again atleast, so many EOTDs I wanna try! So many bloggers out there with fantastic looking EOTDs that are calling my name!! ARGH!

A present from TJ! My own special mug!

Count on me through thick and thin
A friendship that will never end
When you are weak, I will be strong
Helping you to carry on
Call on me, I will be there, don't be afraid
Please believe me when I say, count on

- Count on me, Whitney Houston

Has it really been over a year TJ, since we first became friends? Time really flew by for us huh?

In just a little over a year, some friends I knew passed on, some got engaged, alot of married, some gave birth, some divorced. I changed jobs, met someone new, went thru i-lasik, survived a harebrained idea of wisdom tooth extraction but even after a year, you remained the same, cheerful, sweet and the very same TJ we came to know and love despite so many major changes happening within that one year for you as well.

Just like Elyn, I am proud to call you a friend. I've loved your long emails and I often re-read them for fun. I love all the little updated on what's happening in your life and I will support you in whatever you do.

I would really like to thank you very very much for the gift you sent me. It arrived late so it was such a lovely surprise. LOL, never imagined you would team up with JH on this. Imagine my sneaky suspicion when JH waves the box infront of me and said, 'You got a gift!'

I took my time to unwrap the presents that even JH got impatient. The wrapping was beautiful. I must admit that I have zero skills in wrapping presents or presentation. Mostly I'll barge into my sister's room and demand for her wrapping services XD

Even the card was wrapped so nicely. *Sighed* What a pity to even remove the ribbons. But seriously when I opened and saw the beautiful drawing you did for me I turned to JH and told him, 'Look, there's you' and we had such a good laugh.

TJ, I can't tell you how much I loved the drawing you did. It's absolutely beautiful. Everyone stopped by to admire the card, you did a fantastic job on it. Thank you! It's displayed in a special place in my room to show everyone. I'll get a frame and get it framed up k.

But the best was yet to come huh, TJ? Underneath the card was the one thing I saved up hard for but couldn't afford in the end. One of your specialties, the mug design. The mug is now sitting next to me as I write this. Too precious to be used.

I love your handwriting and the letter *muaks*

The first view of the mug was the side with my name in it. My first thought when I saw it was, 'It has MY name on it with cherry blossoms!' I excitedly told JH as I picked it up. The real surprise was actually on the other side of the mug.

There it was, a girl in pink gown resting on my favourite creature of all time. A unicorn! JH explained that you asked him what I liked and he replied, 'Pink and unicorns' and you gave me exactly that. LOL! Thank you so very much.

I promise to treasure them with all my heart. I promise. Just like our friendship.

Mine mine mine mine mine mine mine~

Thank you for the gift. Thank you for the friendship.

*For those who is interested in getting your own customized cards, mugs, stamps, feel free to visit TJ, promised to be the sweetest and most talented thing at http://tjlubrano.blogspot.com/
