Eye finally see! i-lasik done!!

Happy retirement, my old faithful glasses!
Dang one more box of unopened contact lenses T.T

This is not an advertorial

Finally saved enough money to do my i-lasik (intralase lasik) yesterday. If you're wondering what is I-lasik, it's a newer form of lasik. They don't usually let you know this but in lasik, they use a blade to create a flap. ie: cut open your cornea. If you're lucky, things will be smooth and nice, there are times when they might over cut your flap and end up cutting off your entire flap or even times when they cut a flap but left a small pinhole of uncut cornea right in the middle of your eyes. The cut might also be uneven. With i-Lasik the computer takes over the cutting of the flap so it's bound to be safer. I decided to get it done in Penang Adventist Hospital as they were the only ones in northern Malaysia what does i-Lasik. The other one is in Kuala Lumpur. Another reason being that PAH's price was reasonable. Others are priced atleast 40% higher.

Went for my eye assessment on Tuesday and went thru with the surgery the very next day. Was worried sick when the surgeon told me that he'll have to do manual calculation for my eyes since the computer is unable to calculate due to my extremely high power. See toldja I was half blind.

If you're wondering why do we need an eye assessment, its cause in order to go thru the surgery, we need healthy eyes, It's a little sad that about 50% of people usually fail their eyes assessment. Thus I was shaking in my boots. Even before all this, I have frequently 'abuse' my eyes. Reading in the dark, falling asleep with my contacts lenses on, not using eye drops, poking my eyes with eyeliner pencils, liquid eyeliners, mascaras, you name it I've done it and that includes walking into doors and hitting my eyes due to my own carelessness.

What you might see is the pic on the left, without my glasses, the pic on the right is what I see. At merely 3 feet away.

Things might not go well, I might still end up with glasses and I will NEVER be able to wear contact lenses ever again. This is because the shape of my cornea would have changed and flatted. The contact lenses part hurt me the most knowing that I have worn contact lenses for the past 11 years and my love for coloured contacts. To me, no eyemake up is really complete without coloured contacts for us Asians anyway. How sad it that. And to have the possibility to wear glasses after the procedure is a total pain in the *toot*.

I trusted my surgeon, Dr Tah since I knew he was the super careful type that will never do the procedure if he was not comfortable with it. He wasn't the money crazy type and was an extremely humble man. I really put all my trust in him when I decided to go thru with the procedure. Worst I had to decide in less that 3 hours for a life changing experience. Good or bad. There was many risks to consider.

In the end, I decided that I did not wish to live the rest of my life blindly and forever searching for my glasses every morning and not being able to function without my glasses. Also I acknowledge the fact that long term use of contact lenses is bad for the eyes. Not only it distorts the shape of the eyes, there will also be risk of eye infection that might lead to something worst as well as the fact that contact lenses are actually very very dirty things. A fact that all these while, I rather not think about.

I told JH that I decided to go thru with the surgery and all he said was, 'Ok, lets go get you new glasses soon' and ' I like you in glasses anyway'. That really sealed the deal and also reminds me of how much I really appreciate him and love him, they way he accepts me as I am. Flawed and all.

Eye see youuuuuuu~
Nope, my eyes didn't turned horribly weird afterwards, It still looked normal after the surgery

The entire surgery was pretty much painless. It would have been great if my mom and dad was there with me thru the surgery but I didn't tell them to come since I fear it might gross my mom out. My managers and colleague came for the moral support instead which was comforting.

I accept that fact that even after the procedure I will not be able to get 20/20 vision because my power is too high and there wll be leftover power. I've been warned that I will probably have a max of -150 left but from -1200 to -150 doesn't sound too bad :P (There I've finally revealed my biggest secret ever. My eye power was actually -1200) My colour contacts wasn't because I was vain, it was because I neeeeeeed them and hey if I had to wear contacts anyway why shouldn't I 'beautify' myself by getting coloured ones, right??

GO ME! lmao

A BIG BIG thank you to the surgeon, Dr Tah and the nurses at Penang Adventist Hospital's Vision Centre! And not forgetting all the well wishes *muaks*

P.s: If I said anything wrong, please don't sue me. I've given all my money to PAH for the surgery.

In my glasses; Maybelline Hello Kitty X Volum' Express mascara

HA-HA! For those of you who though I must have died. Sorry to disappoint you but I'm still alive.. and half kicking. I have not been in the mood to blog lately for a few reasons. One of them being that I've been a good but annoyed girl having to wear my glasses for the past one week.

Nope, didn't lose any bets but rather I'm preparing my eyes for the i-lasik assessment this coming Tuesday. They require all contact lens users to remove their soft lens for atleast a week to get an accurate reading on how thick our cornea and see whether we qualify for i-lasik. It's been one hell of a week with me tripping over everything, being extremely blur and unused to the sudden 'limited' vision (vision only within my small glass frame)

I look awful. Enough said.

My glasses are super thick and so makes my eyes appear smaller. I have actually collected a bunch of 'Ha-HA! Your eyes are so small' comments. It stopped bothering after getting like a 100th of these kind of comments. If I got a dollar for everytime someone said that, I will be a living in a big fancy bungalow. Ok ok, that's exaggeration there but definitely enough for me to buy a branded bag.

Ta-daaaaa.. I'm so brave to post this up! *pats herself on the back*

We had a girls night out last Friday with my colleagues and since I was in glasses. I wanted..needed to make my eyes look normal and not eenie meenie itsy bitsy by putting on some falsies.

Oh btw, I HATE putting on make up when I can't really see shit to what I'm doing. My very short eyeliners have been fighting with the mirror lately and I am merely guessing what the hell I am doing every morning.

Be afraid, be very very afraid

Saw the 'natural' eyelashes that I bought a while ago still all nice and comfy in it's box and decided to use it. Damn it's long. It look ridiculous on it's own but with glasses on it looked okay cause they were half hidden behind my glasses. Phew!

Hee, is this your first time seeing the actual colour of my eyes? It's really dark dark brown with black outlines. While some girls have very light coloured iris, I'm actually happy with mine. It's nothing special but awww.. it's mine. All mine, nyahahahahaha! Oh wait, I'm acting weird.

Moving on, it pays to read newspapers, let me tell you why. Cause I saw this!

Maybelline Hello Kitty X Volum Express mascara! I nearly died. I begged JH to fetch me to Watson and happily got it home despite being so freaking poor. I must have it even if I have to eat nothing but bread till payday!!

The back of the box is stated is Japanese but the one thing I CAN read is: Made in China. *toot toot toot toot*

JH was nice enough to translate what it says. it says;

Limited time only. Spiky comb waterproof black mascara. Makes eyelash 'lift' up. Holds curls for 18 hours. Makes eyes 'pop' / 'wide'. The word is actually "pacchiri"
(JH didn't know how to explain this, a little help Bunny?) Waterproof against water, sweat and tears. Comb type brush.

So that's the gist of it.

Aawwwwwwwwwwwww

*Goes and eat bread*

NOTD: For Audrey with golden swirls

Big eyes EOTD

Was feeling bored when I suddenly felt like dressing up, wearing my long forgotten stuffed-in-a-corner wig. When I was doing Mass Comm in my college, I acted in a few films done by my senior and loved it. I enjoyed acting because it was a chance to play and be some one different.

You can be a princess, a delusional pyscho or whatever. I didn't like our filming schedule though. We filmed at about one in the morning in the school and it was freaking creepy. There was hardly any lights and was pitch black in some areas. The school is a very old school. Worst, it was a ghost movie. Sure I like to watch ghost movies but acting in one was err.. a little weird since I'm a little superstitious. I initially rejected the role but my senior kept saying, he made the role just for me. Nice to know that he had a fetish to see me murdered T.T *lmao*

Yea, my character got murdered in the end.. *sniff* I'm so loved - NOT! But anyway the film won them some prize in Kuala Lumpur. Forgotten which, I only knew about it way later.

Enough boring facts about me.

Mission of the day : Make eyes bigger!

Q: How big do you want them?
A: Like.. 3 times it's original size

Q: You mad?!
A: Hey, they manage to do it?

Q: WHO?!
A:

Picture taken from Sankaku website

Q: Good luck
A: Thanks!

I will be extremely truth and admit something tho. If I were a guy and the girl I am dating turned out looking like a totally different person minus make up (like the girl above) I will DUMP her. I will...run to the hills screaming on top of my lungs.

I mean, if I knew how she looked like initially and dated her minus make up and all, that's fine but I don't wanna date a girl that looks like a super hot chick turn very plain jane. No offense to anyone.

So we begin, apply eyeliner, apply it thick, then some brown eyeshadow for shading, I actually applied lots of brown but my camera doesn't capture browns nicely. It always turns out blah! Be sure to drag it way out, draw under the eyes a little, blend some blacks into the eyeliner to soften and apply falsies.

I must admit that I did a bad job at this, the black should have been way more or something and dragged out even more. Mine is just very...subtle in my opinion. The eye make up turned out a little blah looking but it didn't look all too bad in real life. Stupid camera. Stupid brown. Stupid lighting. Stupid me for not knowing how to use photoshop.

The reason why I keep taking one sided pictures is because the other side of my face had the glasses 'mark' on the nose area. Was wearing my glasses after lunchtime to rest my eyes and it left a wonderful mark on me nose which not even make up could cover.

I need ICI paint.

I like the picture on the left a lot. It reminds me of how guys sees girls when drunk. Everything's blurred and looks fantastic. Ahhh.. love love~

Oh lookie, I pinned it up with a cute bow! Something that will be in my giveaway later on!
not the one I've used, worry not

Wig + fringe = a little annoying so I pinned it up, Oh la laa~ it looked much better in real life, a look I don't mind going out in public in. I'll just kill whoever who dares to touch my hair (in this case, my fake hair) I wasn't wearing a hair net so no pins or anything, a hop, a twirl and my so called hair will be rolling on the floor.

Original hair and the dress I bought a gazillion and one years ago but never wore. I got it even before I met JH. Kinda forgotten about it. Damn, should have wore it for my birthday.

Mission Failed : Try again later.
Eyes are barely 1 1/2 times bigger than original.

GAH!

I'm 26!!

As you may or may not know, my birthday just passed last weekend and because I'm so awesome, the Penang Governor made it a public holiday...*snigger*

Really, it was a public holiday ... oh er, it was also his (our Governor's) birthday so... *ahem* anyway, the birthday celebration started on Friday when JH took me to Miraku, a very nice Japanese restaurant in G-Hotel. It was also one of the first places; the other being Penang Hill, he took me on one of our very few dates during courtship. It wasn't that we had very few dates, it was more like our courtship was really really short. Muahahaha!

Anyway me being me, got all dressed up, la dee da and then forgot to take any pictures. The food as good as usual and we even got a special Birthday dessert from the chef (but only thanks to the fact that JH knows him :P)

Saturday was spent out for lunch with Elisa since Kern was in KL, Elyn was working, TJ is obviously in Holland probably waiting for World Cup to start and JH was at a Magic: The Gathering: M11 Launch Party.

It's always nice to have a girl time like this. It's becoming so rare lately since everyone's busy chasing their dreams, getting pregnant, giving birth, getting married and everything else in between. So E and I being none of the above (okay okay, E's busy chasing her dreams but made time for me :D) spend our time gossiping and learning, who and who's getting pregnant, giving birth, getting married...

Headed to Mario's, our current favourite Italian restaurant in Batu Ferringhi on my actual birthday for dinner with parents. The food was awesome. So delicious and affordable. After dinner, the birthday cake time. As mom puts it, no birthday is complete without a cake! This year's Tiramisu from Ritz. Heavenly.

Requested for no birthday song and that only 2 candles be lit. The rest can be hidden, scattered around for all I care. NYAHAHAHA!

So what did he got me? JH being JH (meaning: VERY stingy oh err..hehee I mean thrifty) got me something I didn't expected. His younger brother was coming back from UK for semester break so he got me a LV Neverfull MM from London.

*Muaksmuaksmuaksmuaks JH*

I know it's not the latest or anything but hell, I'm jumping around doing the JH bunny dance now. My 2 year quest is finally completed! FYI, the original quest was not to get my bf to buy me a LV Neverfull but to get one myself. Unfortunately I underestimated the price and budget was a little tight after quitting my job and all so quest was abandoned and forgotten.

As for Elisa, me got a Origins Drink Up mask! My #1 favourite hydration mask. Not only does it smells of Peaches and Apricots, it works wonders. I got a tester for it once and loved it ever since but since the price tag is a little hefty at RM95. 3 words: Can't afford it. :P

I've tried lots of hydration mask and nothing works better than this. I'm so happy. Now I got something to keep my Origins Out of Trouble mask company. As for those that posted on my face book and previous post. Thank you as well!! I appreciate them just as much.

Oh by the way, I cut my hair again. Finally!

A dedication

A short dedication to all my loved ones, friends and readers,

People live, people die, people cry, people laugh, some give up, some still try, some say hi, while some say bye, others may forget you, but never will I.

Friendship is a promise made in the heart, silent, unwritten, unbreakable by distance, unchanged by time. Once a friend, forever a friend.

We knew each other by chance, became friends by choice, still friends by decisions and when I say forever that definitely a lifetime.

A single candle can illuminate an entire room, but a sweet friend cn light up an entire lifetime. Thanks for the bright light of friends.

-source unknown

I would like to sincerely thank everyone for still being with me. Through all my bad EOTDs, NOTDs, childish rants and happy memories. From the bottom of my heart. Thank you.

Down with flu; Colourful Polka NOTD; Avon mousse eyeshadow

ARGH! My nose won't stop running and it annoys the *toot* outta me. I hate going to bed with my nose all stuffy and blocked! Hope everyone's feeling better.

A quickie update anyway. First up;

Ignore the bow

I need a haircut and fast! But first I re-coloured my hair. It's my usual Garnier Hibiscus coloured hair dye. It's really funny how JH has a tendency to point at any flower and call it a Hibiscus. XD
JH: Look, hibiscus! *points at roses*

Couldn't stand the faded copper colour. Was thinking that perhaps I should save some money by colouring my hair black again. I'm worried about it looking boring, aih decisions, indecisions.,,

Fresh Con's Perky Brown

Was initially a little doubtful on the colour. Before buying this, I saw some blog with a girl wearing this and it was so.. err.. noticeable? Wanted a natural looking brown and not something to make people shit their pants when they see me with my glow in the dark brown eyes. Luckily, it came out all right. Yay. I'm glad! Still loving the green better though. Heeee~

Avon mousse eyeshadow in Velvet Taupe

I saw my colleague's Avon catalogue and got all excited - for nothing. Sheesh, JH was sweet enough to drive me to town early in the morning, took a stroll around while waiting for the shop to open and finally when I did enter, there was almost no testers for anything. Not daring to buy any face powder without first testing it, I sat there staring at the sales girl wondering what to buy. I was too embarrassed to walk out without buying anything and I didn't wanted JH to feel as if we came for nothing so I picked something, anything. Was a little desperate and ended up with the mousse eye shadow in Velvet Taupe.

There was only 2 colours left in stock which was Silken Sand and Velvet Taupe. Silken Sand is golden brown-ish coloured and Velvet Taupe was gray-ish purple. I got mine for RM18 after discount (used my colleague's member card :D)

Went home to swatch it and ta-daaa... so sheer. Uh-oh. Used it on my eyelids. It's so smooth and glides like a dream. If this was a cake, it'll be all fluffy and buttery. Unfortunately, it took me 3 coats to even get the colour to show. Dream cake turning nightmare-ish. In a few hours time, it does the David Copperfield. It disappears.

I read online that some of the other colours shows up better while some are really sheer. Now I know why Avon was having a sale on this one and why there was stock left. For now, gonna try using it as a base and see how it goes. Wish me luck!

Colourful Polka NOTD

I personally don't like this NOTD all that much but strangely my colleagues and sister loves it. Odd. Maybe they were being polite but I highly doubt I'll re-attempt this.

Ps: I know the blog looks a little funny right now. bare with me. You wouldn't know how much hair I lost doing something as 'simple' as changing the damned background.

Pink or Blue, we welcome you!

I know it sounds silly but won't it be cute if this was hung outside a baby's clinic aka pediatric clinic? :P

Didn' realize it has been a while since I last did an EOTD. Guess I been reall lazy and not to mentioned, the 'pimple' underneath my right eye has started to get a little better. It's been there for about 2 months now. Yeshu, 2 whole months. Dad suspect it piles, JH suspects it's just a pimple, I suspected it was going to be a pain in the ass and I was right!

I stared at my 88 color palette and it stared right back at me. Decided to do blue again. Really gotta try doing other colours. Been using alot of brown lately but it never photograph well.

Apply Etude House stick eye shadow as base, drew the white line underneath the eyes then added the blues. I took only 2 blues and started blending. Add some yellow in the inner corner of the eyes or this whole looks just looks boring. Never really found a use for yellow till now. I used yellow during my last yellow-orange look but yellow was never touched again till now. Is it me or is yellow just not possible to use on its own?

Line eyes, add falsies. Hmmm, everything just look better with falsies on. *muaks* I love you falsies! And you too, eyeliner!

After one eye was done, I decided to use - Red. The red eyeshadow was not all too pigmented so it was not as dark as I wish it was but good enough to scare people anyway. Mixed it with dark pink and then blend it all with a lighter shade of pink. Looking at this, I wonder if I had the guts to even wear this out in public. Maybe with a wig on I would since there's a higher possibility of people not recognizing me. Hell, I mean, I'm no celebrity or superstar but Penang is really small and news spread fast, and it helps since people like to gossip.

Oh God, the pink of of ALL pink eyes. Pink enough to shame Barney... Oh wait, Barney was purple. :P Hmm, The red ended up looking kinda pink afterall. Phooei!

Draw eyeliner, tilted the back with my Revlon liquid eyeliner.Add falsies and voila! Oops, wrong coloured blusher anyway, me used orangey blusher. Mac Hello Kitty blusher in Fun & Games, should have used Mac Barbie in Don't be Shy. Lips in foundation to cover the original colour and topped with NYX Sorbet.

A comparison. Hmmm, there, I think I've tried all the colours I would not have otherwise used in some way. I've done Red & Green, Pink & Green, Blue & Yellow, Pink, pink, PINK! (current), Yellow & Orange, Purple & Blue. I think the Purple & Blue remains my favourite.
