Checkered Nails

This is what happens when you're bored

And what happens when you get even more bored

Looks weird?

Problem is, how on earth am I going to do my right hand now? (I'm right handed) ARGHHH!

P.S: I forgot to mention, as many knows, CherryCulture.com no longer ships to Malaysia. So the only way you can order NYX stuffs is either get a friend to get it for you or join a spree that gets shipped to Singapore and then shipped to you or something.

When questioned about it, I got a reply stating that they no longer ship to Malaysia due to security reasons. What kind of security problems and when they'll start shipping to Malaysia again? I have no idea.

Smokey eyes EOTD

Look who drop by for lunch? A kingfisher that finally got caught after snacking on my dad's fishes for months. We let it go of course, so don't go calling SPCA yet

It's been some time since I last did smokey eyes. It used to be a favourite of mine since my small small slitted eyes would looked bigger, but it's so long since I did it, I actually forgotten how to do it properly so this is nothing but a try-out again.

For one eye, I used nothing but MAC's cream base and Silkygirl's Yin & Yang which is white and black, d'oh.

Since it was in impromptu EOTD, I do not have foundation on other than around my eyes and I did not draw my eyebrows so ignore that one, also I did not curl my eyelashes and there's no mascara on.

Used:
  • MAC cream base in Luna
  • Silkygirl 08 Ying & Yang duo

I've been using this since last year, my second one actually, I heart it

My small slitted single eyelids eyes with cream base + yin (white) on 3/4 lid

Smear yang (black) on like no tomorrow, kidding, if you have crease, put it on above your crease, single eyelids, put on enough to open your eyes wide and still see the black

Line your lower lids and blend, blend, blend like crazy

And the end result with just 2 colours. Line eyes with eyeliner for extra effect, put on your false eyelashes for extra drama and go out there and break some hearts

Two words, butter fingers. Blame it on the coffee

Used:
  • MAC cream base in Luna
  • MAC Vanilla
  • Sweetscents's Shamrock
  • Silkygirl's Yang

Sweetscent's Shamrock was my love at first sight. It was actually a free sample from Enpointe when I first ordered from her. Elisa mentioned that it might look nice as smokey eyes with a twist and I decided to try it out for fun. If it doesn't look all that great, it's because it's my first time combining both colours but hopefully I'll improve the next time.

Slap on some vanilla on inner lids and paint the rest with Shamrock

Smear on some war paints, oops I meant Yang or any black eyeshadow

Line under eyes and BLEEEEEEEEEEENNNDDDDDDDDD

End result, add mascara or false eyelashes and you're done!

Muahahhaaaa, one grey and one green, how odd is that?

They only hires the stupid...

I'm so freaking mad, mad mad. One at Ian, the other at M.A.C. MUA (Make Up Artist) in KL. Penang one is fine since I dealt with them personally but the KL ones gives me one word to describe them. STUPID. It's really not nice to call people stupid, but these bunch of people, namely Chole and Emily from the M.A.C MidValley takes the whole freaking cake!

I don't particularly understand the requirement to be a M.A.C MUA, is it; one, must know how to make up, two, must know how to be arrogant while not knowing their products, three, stupidity.

It's always been super important to me to know what the hell we're selling first and foremost in a job. We do research and countless homeworks regarding our products and such before we go out selling and try to convince customers about the benefits.

But over in M.A.C when they have new stuffs coming out every few months with only a FEW things to remember, namely the names of the newer products, yet they can never remember. Or is it, it's not important to remember? Hell, I can remember their products and I don't work there!

They also seemingly enjoy arguing with customers. They treat everyone like an idiot and they know the best. I called these two idiots mentioned above only to have either one of them tell me that Mineralize skin finish comes in Light, Tan, Medium or whatever when I specifically asked for Petticoat.

Yes, I understand that Mineralize Skin Finish is also the name for the bakes face powder but M.A.C isn't as stupid as to call two different products with the same name. Which is why, they called one Mineralize SkinFinish and the other Mineralize SkinFinish/Natural. M.A.C ain't stupid, they just hire stupid people.

I'm not sure what's wrong with the name Petticoat but it might as well be a name of an alien species from the way they, 'HuH??! Petti-what?!' then went on to 'teach me' that what I wanted was Mineralize BLUSHER. Proceed to rattle on the names which I already know and DON'T want and I repeated that I wanted the Mineralize Skin Finish from the Sheer Minerals Collection where they has Mineralized Skin Finish in 3 colours; Petticoat, So Celyon and Soft & Gentle. Alot of huhs later they came back and said ' Don't have'.

ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!! I WANT PETTICOAT!

Financial Woes

Everyone has addictions, some are addicted to nicotine, some to drugs, some to coffee, mine's to cosmetics. It all started some time back, in Good Friday, April 2007.

I'm not sure just how to type all this down but I'll try my best. It was that day that my house was broken into while I was in KL and my parents out to have dinner. They went through my room and took everything valuable they could find. My entire 24 years of jeweleries collection that my mother have ever given me (I get pieces of jewelries every birthday and special occasions) and basically to cut it short a lot of jeweleries and money that I have faithfully collected for my 'dream' house fund. It's silly to keep that much cash and jeweleries at home but back then, I don't own a safe deposit box of my own and never thought of asking my mom to keep them in hers.

After the incident, I fell into depression and thought of all the money that I lost and hated the thoughts of the evil scums that I'm still cursing till this day, happily spending the money that I have collected so hard all this time. I do have bank accounts but in my naive little head, I've always liked to keep 'cash on hand' because I was too bloody lazy to head to an ATM and withdraw.

It drawn to me that despite saving so hard, I never got to spend a penny of it. After that, my 'dream' house fund went on hold and to cheer myself up, I bought things that I liked. It all started from there and everything went down hill from there. Nowadays when ever I feel upset or unhappy or even stressed, I like to browse online for cosmetics or go shopping for something. It may just be a lip gloss or something but the urge to get something is very strong. This habit went unnoticed till of late when I turn back and see all the stuffs I've accumulated since last year and how empty my bank account has become. How did they get that much (cosmetic) and how did it get so little (money in bank account)? Worst, I can't stop and I'm still buying them. Part reason why I'm writing down something like this is so that I can finally translate my thoughts into words and read them and wake myself up. I know that sounds silly and most of your would have probably went 'Huh?' but I need someone to wake me up from this cosmetic addiction hell.

Why I would like to wake up from this is also because my bank account has gone on diet. An extreme diet. When I was younger I would tell myself that my piggy banks were pets and I needed to keep 'feeding' them or they'll stareveeeeeee... Right now, I can't even remember when was the last time I 'feed' them. They must have died and gone to where all piggy banks goes when they die.

I've been working for about four months now and I can sincerely tell you that by every end of the month I would have practically emptied my account. How sad is that? I have no commitments other than my hand phone bill and car petrol and yet I'm suffering this bad. I've cut buying books down to minimal along with my sweets/candy addiction, only to have everything go to cosmetics.

The only excuse I can come up with is that I buy them to cheer myself up every time some thing upsets me. In the end, I really need something that does not cost so much to cheer me up next time. Wish Ian would be more supportive of my problem especially when he's one of the causes of it...

Rimmel Glam' Eyes Mascara + Etude House Pore Erasing Peach Base + OxyMask reviews

*Phew* That's the longest title on my blog. Had to write out everything or I'll end up forgetting which topic the reviews was in. My memory ain't all that good lately, it's beginning to behave like an old computer with too many junks and has not been defragmented recently.

On with the Rimmel's Glam' Eyes Mascara which promises ultra volume, high definition (sounds like some LCD or plasma TV advertisement) but anyway here's my 2 cents on it.

Packaging - 7.5
Product - 8/10
Price - 9/10
Would I repurchase - yes
Overall - 7.5/10

Note: For one, you'll never see me giving anything a 10, two, if I rate it 9, it's MY HG (Holy grail)

While some girls rave about this product saying that it's a holy grail for everyone and how everyone MUST get this, I beg to differ. I'm not saying that it's bad, for the price (I got it at RM28) it's a steal and a good bargain but it also depends if we really need it. For one, Rimmel Glam' Eyes Mascara definitely lengthens but it hardly volumize our lashes, something that I need badly considering that I have very little lashes.

If you already have very full lashes, and just need a mascara to lengthen for the extra drama, this is indeed perfect, but if you're like me, with a little hair here, a little hair there, this alone is not good enough. You'll probably need two mascara then. It's not stated whether this mascara is waterproof or not but rest assured that it is and surprisingly, very easy to remove. No need the scrub and smudge like f*** routine. And because of the wand, it's quite hard for your lashes to clump together. So no worries there. But for me, I needed to reapply it a couple of times to be able to see anything, remember that I'm single eyelids and my eyelids pushes my lashes downwards so thus 'shortens' it slightly.

If it looks awful, my fault, it could have probably went longer but was too lasy to apply anymore, that's already 2-3 coats

I suppose till now, one of my favourite HG for mascara is still Kate's Separate Volume Mascara (RM38) Cheap and good. As you know I NEED Volume and this is one mascara that gives me just that. Sure it clumps occasionally but without it, I look like someone without any eyelashes. But everyone's needs is different and so is everyone's taste on mascaras. Some swears by their Chanel, some on Estee Lauder and M.A.C, but whatever it is choose one that you need, as in, if you have short lasges, get one that lengthens, you need volume, get ones that helps volumize and not get one because someone swears by it. It's about you, choose what your lashes need, also get a waterproof one that doesn't smudge like f*** (ie; Maybelline Mascaras)

And yes I have a problem with Maybelline mascaras, the effects is good by I'll give you an hour before you start looking like a racoon. It smears and smudges like no tomorrow ans it's difficult to wash off often leaving hard to come off residues under our eyes. I would know, I've been using it for quite some time before finally discovering Kate. After that, gone are the days of racoons.

What psycho lookin' eyes I have, LOL

Another thing that irks the shit outta me, silly girls giving silly reviews. I've comes across some bloggers that rave about just about everything. A rock can turn to a diamond with the way they describe it. But ultimately, a rock remains a rock. Poor Elisa ended up buying a couple of stuffs after reading a blogger's review only to find out that the products is one of the worst of it's kind. I note that everyone's taste, skin, likes is different but to rave about something that bad leaves me speechless.

Also it would really help if some people who can't trim/ thread/take care of their own eyebrows, please don't do a tutorial on 'How to take care of your eyesbrows' pleaseee?

I've seen a somewhat reknown Malaysian blogger teaching the readers on how to shape their eyebrows and is horrorfied. Especially when her eye brows are so badly mangled, over plucked and had the weirest tadpole shape!

Like Kern says, eyes are windows to our soul and eyebrows are the frames. Who wants to frame the Mona Lisa with plastic strips from 7/11?

While another blogger did EOTD but had the bushiest eyebrows on planet Earth and instead of seeing her eyes first, all we saw was her eyebrows. I'm not being mean or bitchy and going around thinking that I'm the best in eyebrows or EOTDs or whatever but think of it this way, do you want to see someone teaching you how to do manicures with UGLY, bitten, dirty, stained nails?

We're all learning and we're all mostly amateurs doing your best, so if you really can't handle it, don't do it. That's all. No one is going to blame you for not doing an eyebrow tutorial. It's even weirder when someone with 'geli' eyebrows teaching us how to do it. I personally can't handle my own eyebrows, one reason why I did eyebrow embroidery.

Okay that's off my chest, moving on, the Etude House Pore Erasing Peach base. A lightly peach scented base that promises to cover pores and make skin looks smooth or flawless or something or another.

We don't have this in Penang, but Ian was nice enough to go over to Sunway Pyramid and got these babies back for us. It cost about RM49.90 each and comes in two colour, Peach & Mint.

I've seen many bloggers raving about this stuff and had me wondering what's so great about it so we decided to get it and try it out ourselves. For one, I didn't not expect the base to be so big. I was shocked to see the size of the base. One look at it and I knew it's going to last me till God knows when.

A comparison between the size of Bobbi Brown's eyeliner gel and Etude House pore erasing base

So far so good, I can see that it really does cover up the pores nicely, but if you have huge a** moon craters on your face, this will help a little bit just as well, it won't make the moon craters disappear but it'll definitely help 'soften' the holes. I would know, I had the opportunity to test it on Ian. XD

*Getting too late will add more reviews on this tomorrow.

The Mask that sent me to the poor house, costing me a whooping RM198

The OxyMask from Beauty Talk Korea that I got from Sasa. I'll update the reviews on this in about a week or less so that I can give a more accurate review on it.

EOTD - Bigger eyes

It's been some time since I've done any EOTD, so here's one. It's really simple and it's just involve black eyeliner and eye shadow to set the eyeliner. I do believe that the eyeliner and eye shadow can be both replaced with either Bobbi Brown's eyeliner or a M.A.C one. Whichever one you have.

My plain single eyelid. Apply some base, in my case, I used M.A.C's cream base in Luna

NYX Black Bean jumbo pencil, draw it like how you usually draw your eyeliner. You can skip the base if you're using NYX's Black bean. It's a good base on it's own

How mine looked. Ignore the smudge. My hands shakes like some old lady sometimes

Use a brush to even everything out nicely

View from the top, check, make sure both is even and proceed on, whee!

Open, check, even? Good. Make sure you draw alot to the extend that the black can be seen even when you open your eyes. If the eyeliner on top is too little and only the bottom waterline can be seen, you'll end up looking sleepy

Line the bottom of your eyes, you can line your waterline with a beige eyeliner if you want

Apply mascara like there's no tomorrow and ta-daa the finish effect. Does my eyes look any bigger?
Ignore the clumped lashes. I suck at putting my mascara on.

You can also put on some shimmery beige/white eye shadow in corner of your eyes to open them

View from the side

I had such a good laugh at this photo!
I look like "You owe me a million bucks, when are you going to pay back?" kinda face

Majolica Majorca

*Warning picture intensive!

Lookie 'ere. Rimmel is right next to Majolica Majorca at Perangin Mall, Penang

It's been a boring yet weird week. A few mind blowing incidents and a hell lot of predictable stuffs, the only thing that I kept in mind to give myself motivation was that Majolica Majorca was launching in Penang on Thursday. How exciting is it? MM is finally here in Malaysia after waiting and dreaming of it! To the guys out there, you're probably scratching your head wondering what the hell is MM, well here's a brief intro;

'Majolica Majorca is a tremendously popular makeup series from Shiseido, it's aristocratic packaging is beautiful, creative and attractive. With quality cosmetics and affordable prices, Majolica Majorca is one of the most popular lines of all things Shiseido.'

In a nutshell, it's a sub brand from Shiseido and it's pretty much at a drugstore brand in Japan like our Loreal, Maybelline and stuffs.

I'm happy because now I don't have to buy any of the OVERpriced MM stuffs in forums. The pricing in the forums are crazy with mascaras ranging from RM60+ and now we finally know that it actually cost about RM46. Taking shipping into consideration and still having to pay for the postage to our house, buying one MM mascara online can easily cost you a pretty penny, if you get my drift.

I'll include the swatches and pricing for all their available products in the blog so anyone/ everyone who's interested. I didn't manage to head there on Thursday but Friday after work was good. Since it was Watson, nobody gave a damn and I could take all the swatches I wanted. MUAHAHAHAA.. [insert evil laugh]
